  • Sidewinder in A classes

How did the Sidewinder perform in the A classes this year? Looking forward to moving into the A classes in 2012.

    Sidewinder

My sister (Pam Wilde) is running her's as we speak. We took it testing last week to try the new DelLorte carb and it ran well starting without a lift and idolling like a champ. Now we just need to adjust a few more R's out of the girl. When we get the jets worked out we will definatly have a front runner. Lots of frustration this year with multi carb changes, but it looks like we have the package just about worked out.

Dylan ran right with Billy Simmons at Millville NJ last weekend and is running again at Berwick Pa. this weekend.
He also ran BSH & AMH last weekend and won 2 or 3 heats out of the eight. The competition was pretty good with Stillwell, D'agostino,Desiato,Ken Terry & Nevin (forgot his last name, sorry Nevin) in earls rig.
I ran 20SSH with my rig and ran 3rd or 4th in a pretty good field of 20's. The motor ran great but I haven't had the resources to prop it yet. I'm about 1-1 1/2 mph off the front runners on top end. I'll be there next year. I've been told that Jeff Brewster has been running top three lately with his 20 Sidewinder.
All the motors will perform as expected with the new carb.

By the way. I've been informed there is some talk out there that the motors that "the Runne's" are running are special. We have stated in the past, that our motors can be bought right off the boat, for the cost of a replacement. No ifs, ands or buts. We paid full price for these motors just like anybody else would. I wouldn't have it any other way!

Stock Outboard is all about a level playing field.

True parity is one motor per class.

It's RACING, not just another boat ride!

        Carb?

John, is Dylan running the DelLorte or the Lectron restricted? This weekend is our first race on the new one, and only the second time on the water, but seems to be doing the trick.

            15S and 15H differences

There are 3 differences between the 15CI sidewinder models.
Carb, port timeing, And minimum CC's.

At Millville, which had 2 days of perfect water the Sidewinder (15 H).....ran the Lectron carb with the driver on weight in a Runne-Craft. Ed Runne was there with the new Itialian carb in hand showing Commission Members in attendence and others that were interested! The 15H ran well but is still sluggish off the corners. It is anticapated per Ed the new carb will be more responsive and eliminate the bogging issue.

In ASR the 15S Sidewinder raced the Itialian carb and ran a competitive 2nd to a fast Billy Simmons who had a OMC Engine. It appears the new carb is no faster than the existing Lectron carb but is more responsive and runs well in all conditions without re-jetting which seems to have been a issue for sometime with the engines.

I hope by the National Meeting in Chicago the PARITY COMMITTEE handling these Sidewinder issues will have constructive data to present the SORC to help in making good informed decisions for the 2012 season!!

                Sidewinder in A

Gene , what would be the model for ASH or ASR . Jack is moving up next season . Still running AXR and AXh with the merc. I have a good OMC 15, but would like to suport Ron if the Sidewinder is going to be the motor of choice

That would be the 15S model for standard output for the ASR and ASH classes. Cost is the same as the 15H model. about the only outward difference in the motors is the 15S has the white flywheel and the 15H has the blue flywheel.

                    15s

Pam ran ASH at Minden this past weekend with our 15S equipped with a 19mm DelOrto Carburetor. Pam had some bad (stupid) luck, but appeared to be dead even with R11's best, Tony Lombardo. This was only four heats on a relatively short course, but the 15S appears to be very close to a perfect match with the OMC. The new carburetor has completely transformed out 15S Sidewinder: it now starts in the water and idles like a baby (?). It's a beautiful thing.
