Powerboat Super League ... Champ Boat Series ... etc.

OK ... who can help explain the difference(s) among the various tunnel boat groups ... what is the APBA connection ... classes etc. ... I need a real good primer on this stuff. Thanks.

Tunnel boat racing is under the umbrella of apba listed as opc (outboard performance craft). The Category has several classes (for full list check apba's website under opc) The largest classes have either one or two national tours. The APR superleage runs two classes, sst 60 or F-3 85 mph 15 ft, and sst-120 or F-2, This series conducts races in the eastern US. Then there is the Champboat series which as of 2005 runs three classes, sst-45 or F-lights 80mph 13ft, sst-120 110mph 17ftor F-2, sst-140 120 mph 19 ft or champ boats. This series conducts races accross the entire US. There is also a West coast formula light series which conducts races on the west coast for sst-45 drivers.

I know that the champ boat series is a major apba series and west coast formula light series is a minor series but I don't know what the apr superleage is.

All classes mentioned in this post have fully approved capsules and a five point safety harnes.
