I am new to racing and I just purchased a new enclosed trailer (6x14). I would like to be able to fit two runabouts in it and at least two motors. I am looking for ideas on how to set the trailer up. All ideas and/or pictures would be greatly appreciated.

I have two runabouts in my trailer, one boat on either wall. This eliminates all racks and makes it nice and open once the boats are out on race weekend. I have had as large as DMR's on the wall. You just have to build the boxes under the boats the difference of the boat width and the floor to ceiling measurement minus a few inches for straps and wiggle room. I have plywood boxes with some foam glued on top and wrapped in carpet and have never had a problem. Many many trips with no hiccups, just be sure to sink the fasteners good and secure into the frame of the trailer. I will post some pics tomorrow.Last edited by Gunjumper; 09-23-2011, 04:59 PM.Future J dad!

We have a similar sized trailer. Ended up getting some E-track and we made clip in cross bunks.
The E-track is nice because you can adjust the height easily and you can unclip the bunks when the boats are out. One boat gets strapped down below, the other goes on the bunks above for transport. A lot of folks will build a motor rack right in the nose of the trailer.Mark Krzyzanowski

Trailer setup
We have a 22 1/2 ft Haulmark that is 8 ft 4 inches wide. The trailer has three doors, aft drop down, right entry and left car access door. This allows good ventelation. Forward we have a work bench with vice. There is also upper and lower storage. Under the bench is a 4.2 KW generator that you get to through an outside door on the left. We carry an assortment of power tools that includes a compressor and vacuum. Forwad of the boat storage area there is a removable table to work on or have a snack. The right side has the motor rack that can carry up to 10 engines. We have two beams sets that carry our hydros and on the floor we can also carry a hydro or runabout along with 3 carts. Outside we have a removable motor rack that holds four engines while your doing your race setup.
The E channel and brackets were obtained from WW Granger and were very easy to fit and install.
I will post photos later

Well!! I take two with me
My wife makes me do my laundry before we depart for home!! Really it makes an ideal tool stand when your setting up the boats. One we set along side the outside engine stand and the other by the boat were working on. Works great and very easy to carry and store.

Hi Al,
Much better setup today then in the old days. Remember the old green Willies delivery rig with the Chevy 348 and the 3 boat trailer that we used as a tow vehicle? David and I used that for years. The motor rack carried 4 engines inside and all the rest of the gear. The old Long Island days were great fun thats for sure.

Hi Dennis,
Here is a photo of the way we use the recycled ironing board. This was up at Centralia this summer.

Hi David,
You can check on line. The items are used to run conduit around factorioes. I can get you the part numbers if you need them. Just checked on line. The manufacture of the item is "Super Strut" in the granger catalogue. All the other items you need will come up at the same time.

If you buy channel you should get the largest gage and with no holes.

That sure would make it easier. I would appreciate it if you would do that when you get a chance to....

David,
I use an E track system in my trailer. I bought it from truckntow.com.
I have brackets that clip into the E track that are made for a 2x4 or 2x6.
I made 2 frames for the boats from 2x4's. I also have logistic straps that
clip into the E track to hold the boats. It is easy to adjust and easy to remove.
Sincerely,
