This pic is from an EORC somewhere on long Island. That is pete Voss's boat
Slow Poke which he ran a PR on. Notice the old 36 class in the backround. I think that may have been George Scudder's boat. Probaby circa early 1960's. I have a bunch of more pics to post, when I figure this system out.

The other pic was a party given for me on a return visit to L.I Some of the guys are, Dick Scopinitch, Jim Gohery, Pete Helsten, Bob Hookirk.

    Pete Helsten

I can recognize Pete since with Grumman Aircraft backround is flying the bird. Pete was Commadore of EORC while I was Secertary. At that time I was also the club supplier of Keller hardware. I miss those old times but I sure would not like to return. I love retirement.

I left L.I. for Floroda in late 1968. I don't think Pete was Commadore at the time. I remember that Herb Voss was treasure & secretary at thst time. Where the heck is Port Orange ??

You are right, George,s # was N-162. What a driver he was. I remember a race at Westhampton. We bet Geoge a case of beer that he couldn't turn his boat in area about 50 feet square area. I really did not think he could do it. He came in there wide open. He came in there wide open and a big wall of water,****ed if he didn't do it,

            Scudders 180 deg. turn

Yes Roy I remember it well, It was either Tiana or West Hampton. The area was as you stated, bulkheaded approx. 50 x 50 ft and he sure did enter and turn a 180 out of there. I know that Pete was top gun of EORC as he suspended George for at least the season for the ACT of endangering the public and threw in another charge of wrong color helmet. George was mighty PO'ed at Pete. I don't recall if the "FINE" was paid or not.

                Hi Dave,
Good to hear from you. I wonder if you mean by kneeling & sitting if you are referring to the 50 mile marathon at Aquabouge. That was some race. Howie Minami and I both ran DU. We had no idea how much fuel we would need to run 50 miles. So we went to the junk yard and bought two twenty gallon auto fuel tanks. I had a Speedliner and Howie's was home built. They both had open cockpits in the front. that is where we mounted the tanks. I think we could have run fron N.Y. to floida with the fuel amount we had. The water was extremely rough, in some areas probably 3' to 4' waves. I really got pooped out. On the far cousre it smoothed out for about 3 or 4 miles. I decided to sit down and drive.Well in that short spance I wore two holes through my pants and throuh my underware. I ended up having two blisters on my butt. However, it was worth it since i won 1 St place.

Thanks for the pictures Roy. Brings back memories of yesteryear. My last race was in 1970 and wished I kept some equipment when I moved to the mid west. Sure miss those EORC and Long Island days. A great group of guys and gals. To bad the club is inactive right now. I say that George Scudder lead the group of characters. I believe he was our first national champ running the 36 class.

Guys, this Nostalgic stuff is so neat to a relatively new driver such as myself!

                      Thanks for sharing.

                          Hi David..................

Yes, I know I haven't gotten up there (it's such a long drive) and I want to soon. Working on getting the 350 hydro ready for next season and I haven't even had time to get to the lake with it. I am always happy to see your new projects and how beautiful they turn out. Your mechanical skills along with your artistic side really do well together. Hope to be able to get there in the near future. And the Pt. Orange comment was just answering Roy's "and where the heck is Pt. Orange?" question.
