  • Nj j-bill officially law!!!!!!!

On August 19th, 2011, my 51st birthday and 19th wedding anniversary, NJ governor Chris Christie signed into law Senate bill S1246 which created an exemption to the law requiring that a person must be 16 to operate a powerboat in NJ and allows 13 year-olds to race in NJ.
In other words, If you are 13 you can now race in NJ. Thanks to Jill Glossner and Sherri Runne for starting this effort so many years ago.
So now there is NO reason for not coming to Millville on October 8th and 9th!!!!!! We could use all the support we can get here in Region 3.

        Thank You!

Thank you guys for all the hard work. It is no small feat to get legislation like this passed. We'll have to wait two years to reap the benefits though as Sam is only eleven years old. We'll put New Jersey on the race schedule in 2013!

        Cheers,
        Fred

This is great news! It will help get new drivers. I think that you will still need the boating safety course from any state where you live?

            any online course will do

If you do not live in NJ any online course will do. Just get it because eventually all states will be requiring this as a means to get extra revenue.

Our local Bass Pro Shops offers the USCG Auxilliary Safe Boaters Course free of charge. The store picks up the cost in hopes of getting more customers in the Tracker Boat Centers. You might be able to pursuade a local marina/boat center to do the same. Just a thought.

Congratulations Sheri and Jill on all your hard work coming to fruition. Dylan may be grown now, but Kaitlin and many other kids will benefit from your hard work.

this is great news for loretta as well she can finaly race at her home lake again. it is such a shame that the people we vote into office take so long to do things for us in return . thanks to everybody that had anything to do with getting this bill passed.
