Tohatsu - "For Competition Only"

You may have noticed that the phone number on the Tohatsu ad (in the sidebar) has changed. That's not all.

Beginning now... the Tohatsu M50D2 race engine package will be produced up here in Maine. The engine will continue to be available in its present form.

Parts for the entire package will be available from Richmond Aero Marine "For Competition Only". Items produced by Bass Machines, from the adapter plate on down will also be available from Bass Machines, Bremmerton WA.

As it implies, the Engine Package and all parts are provided to the 'racer' for competition usage only. This is in keeping with our environmental laws and keeps the EPA happy.

Richmond Aero Marine is not a Fortune 500 company.. but we do take credit cards (MC, Visa, Disc), and we try our best to keep prices down while paying our lightbill.

Chris, thanks for your inquiry. The present inventory of new engines is now sold. The current $6500 price, FOB Richmond Maine, will remain in effect for any new engine for which a 50% deposit is received prior to November 30th this year.

We are working on an order for engines (from Japan) to be available for the 2012 season. Pricing for these engines is anticipated to increase by 4-5%. This may result in inventoried engine prices to be around $6750. Anyone wanting an engine for the 2012 season should plan to put a 50% deposit down by November to lock in the $6500 price. Cash, bank-check, or MC/Visa/Disc accepted.

I bought my motor in 08 for $6500. It has been the best investment Ive ever made in racing. If anyone is interested in getting into to D class it is the only way to go. If I need a part (wich I never had) I just call Alex and its on its way within a day.(think I still owe him for an impeller) I did some research before getting into the DSH class and if I remember right Dave Scott told me to go with a tohatsu or start goin dumpster diving for Merc parts

Congrats Alex! Have done busines with Alex. I don`t think you can go wrong if you were to purchase a complete engine or parts. Everything I have purchased was reasoably priced and at my doorstep promptly.

Hey Pete....when your dumpster diving for Merc parts keep an eye out for all of the trophies from this years short course and marathon nationals that those junky old Mercs won....Say...how did the Tohatsu motors do at Wakefield...we had 11 D mercs at Top O and I didnt see a single Tohatsu.

The Mercury 44XS is still a viable motor in the class....but it is getting harder and harder to find parts...for my last powerhead I had built I had to look all over the place for new rods etc...with the Tohatsu I can get new parts from Alex directly, or I can walk into my local Nissan/Tohatsu dealership and buy the stuff from them. I was the only Tohatsu this year at the short course nationals in Wakefield. David.

In my opinion it appeared that Dave’s Tohatsu was fast enough to win at Wakefield. This is not a slam on Dave just stating what it looked like to me. I was really hoping he would win, I know he has worked hard to be competitive with it and deserves to be rewarded.

When I was a member of the SORC we loaned Bass the money to keep 2 Tohatsu's in stock at all times. Just wondering?
