i remember seeing the lobster boat at valleyfield in the early to mid 1990's. when the capsule rule came in, they put a cage in the boat. then i think the minimum weight limit increased. the lobster boat was a dwarf to most of the newer boats. designs change over the years and the lobster boat became outdated. a very fast boat in its day.

      Lobster Boat

I have forgotten most of the history. The boat is in Raleigh and will undoubtebly be a collectors item one day. It was flipped in its last race at Hampton, VA. Sister boat Bingo may also still be in Raleigh at my Uncle's house.

First time Uncle Bobby took it for a ride, he blew it to the moon and broke his collarbone (Guntersville, AL I believe). The boat had an unusual design with the driver in a far forward position. Also, Bobby had a car racing specialist prepare his engines and he a unique exhaust set-up that seemed to help him. On smooth water, he could not be caught. The boat was not good in rough stuff. Canards were added to the front at some point to help keep the nose down. Bobby backed the boat into a wall while at St. Pete race. Had to move the rudder to the other side of the boat because of the damage. Next day he shattered the competition record and the boat had never handled better. Better lucky than good!!

I will see if I can find some photo's.
