Thanks to everyone who came out to race at the 2011 Rochelle Regatta. Aside from the heat (which became downright oppressive by the end of the day Sunday) the weather, water, and wind were cooperative for the entire weekend. There were many good races in a variety of classes. (Eleven, count 'em, ELEVEN C Stock Hydros both days! Hoo boy!) This race was a great tune-up opportunity for the Nationals in Wakefield in two weeks!
We were on the water both days by 10:45 a.m. Turn boat and safety boat changes were handled with great efficiency, and we were done racing by 3:30 p.m. both days. In other words, the schedule ran like a well-oiled machine. Thanks to the entire race committee for keeping things moving along at a fast, yet orderly clip.
Many thanks also to all the MRC and BSOA members who help set up and tear down the race. We couldn't have done it without these dedicated teams!
While I am unfortunately going to miss the Nationals this year, I wish all of those who are going all the best! I'll be checking HR, chained at my desk at work for updates, so I hope somebody will be posting play-by-play for those of us who can't make it.
