Hosting the Divisionals definitely brings added entries to club races. And without the clubs...there is no racing.

As Matt said...who really stays home because there are only 8 spots open at the Nationals instead of 11?

Whereas...look at the people that make the trip only because they have locked in a spot in the feature.

      Sorry to hear Matt.

Back to my title: JMK has stopped racing outboards for the forseeable future and will not be partiticpating in stock nationals this year. So there's an extra spot and brand new national champion in ASH, ASR, 25ssR, and CSH.

No, not really. I just like the extra entries that the divisionals bring to a race.

It may have added some but there were a lot of people missing that I thought would be there. (DePue) Maybe that is the group it's not important too?

The problem I have is that I don't really feel that it draws many more people to the race. We had one trailer of racers from Ohio at the Divisionals, none from PA or Canada, and maybe 4 from Michigan. Would those same trailers had come over if it was just double points? I have no idea.

The think the idea of drawing boats is much more prevalent than actually drawing boats in the case of the divisionals. It still seems like a weird concept that you can qualify for a national event that takes place, in the case of some divisionals, months after the divisionals race. You don't see many sports taking teams into the playoffs after week 12 in football, or a team that is in first pace after 125 games in baseball.

Plus I've seen several situations where groups of people go walk around the pits an hour before drivers meeting, talking 2 more racers into running the class that day so they have 8 boats. Doesn't seem real deserving to me when you only beat 5 legit competitors.

Great point Donny. Probably the most valid point in the discussion simply because it's a fact, not a theory.

Sounds like +2 entries for the club!

I need to remember to hit the "Mute" button if I am going to read these during teleconferences!

Anything to help the local races

I think the 8 boats for qualifier rule has helped gain more entries at divisionals many times that I can think of, generating entries that just wouldn't normally be there. Nobody that I know of is NOT going because it will be hard to make a final, and Peterson IS going because of the seed, seems like everybody wins.

And I can understand the same goes for those coming out West for a SO Nationals.

All categories agree on double points for divisional, but SO (in my mind) is like double dipping with divisional winners (8 boats or more) being seeded in the finals.

I'm sure someone will shoot me down, but just thought I needed to agree with my fellow teacher Donnie.

As many as ever! Fred, Dan and Mike again this year.

And it looks like we'll be good for a few second-place finishes:

D stock seems to be a little slim boat wise this year....any idea as to who will be there?
