  • Avgas for Thompson

I'm considering hauling some 100LL avgas to Thompson in 5 gal containers. I'd sell it for $35 (5gals and you return the container to me).

How many would be interested? I would rather not have to haul the stuff around if it didn't sell.

    Let me know.

      Legal Fuel

In Canada we have tested several brands of 91 octane gas
and found it to pass every time. I think most stations have
ethanol free 91 but of course we have not tested them all.
Shell, Esso,Cango,Drummonds and Flying J 91 tested OK
but they do cost close to $1.45 per litre. Unfortunately the
lower octane gas has ethanol. Regards MR

Unfortunately.... here in the U Ess of Aye... you really don't know what the heck yer getting for a mixture.

VP race fuel is a sure bet. But, a tad pricey for the average mortal.

I would also have to offer that the folks in NBRA have managed to gain a terrific sponsor with ethanol fuels, and I commend them both for promoting our sport. We need all the help and publicity we can get.

Meanwhile....... AVgas 100LL is consistent and averages around $4.87 to $5.45 per gallon (or$1.43 per liter). It is stable. You should mix up what you intend to use that day.

I'll go an get the stuff, put it in 5 gal containers I've purchased, and haul it to the race site. You take it and pour it into your container and use it as you wish. It's great stuff for putting your engiines to bed for the winter.

So, if you want some... give me a phone call or email me.

          Metal Containers

Be sure to store any and all gas you purchase ahead of time in metal containers. Plastic contaminates and could toss the meter north of zero. of course for local non-championship races local fuel of the day should be considered by the race committee to help keep the costs down. Trust me, Ethonol doesn't give you an advantage in performance. It is nice to simply get gas at the pumps again.

Some states by state law has to have it posted on the pumps if it contains ethanol others dont in Va and Pa it has to be on the pumps if it contains ethanol. The states are listed somewhere but would have to look it up again.

Why not just make life simple and allow any pump gasoline as purchased. It now seems like exotic fuel at a higher price has to be bought to be legal. Ethanol has no advantage for racing. Lets get with the times. Just my opinion........Bob N-96

At 10% there is no advantage but at E85 there is and the meters we have now cannot tell just how much ethanol is in the fuel that is where the problem is.

Find me a fisherman running VP C12 in his 15 hp Mercury. Stock should mean stock. Just my opinion.

Norfolk, VA to Wakefield, MI = 1,280 miles each way; we don't want to get tossed for illegal fuel so I'll pay $150.00 for ten gallons of fuel to participate in "Stock Outboard Racing".

                  Still sucks. Again, my opinion.

Obstacles to boat racing? Nothing comes to mind.

                  Regards,
