  • Gettin ready for Thompson! (Maple Barley HomeBrew)

got this bottled just in time for CT. Its a Maple Barley, we actually used a 1/2 gallon of maple syrup in the brew. probably lookin at a 7.5% or more by volume. (might have a nice earl grey tea beer ready too. And no its nothing like a twisted tea. Its beer, and tea beer)

First pick is my brew partner Dan.

We just started our second batch of home brew. It is a lot of fun making but even more fun sampling with friends. This one is made with honey. It is hard waiting at least 3 weeks so we have started a rotation.

I started home brewing like 6-7 years ago, but all we ever did was the kits. a little over a year ago dan and I started brewing a little more serious, doing half mashes (basically brewing from scratch, using one can of malt extracts and 4-5lbs of grain). We don't have the equipment for full mashes yet. Having a rotation is a must.

This maple barley has sat conditioning for over 2 months. so this has been on patient brew (though its really just procrastination haha).

Yeah.. yeah... I was lounging on Southwest Air on a trip back from West Palm Beach with visions of Molson Canadien on my mind when this stewardess ..... whoa!!!! I mean she was right out of a Victoria's Secret catalog.... asked me if I would care for some refreshment.... I made the 'C' cup sign and mumbled M MMMMM olson.

Now, when you mowrons can get someone like thet to offer me some of that drain-cleaner yer offering.... I might just try it.

Just pulled 5 barrels (155 gallons) of Portinos House Ale out of the fermenter....Its off a two row platform, lightly hopped, with garlic oregano, basil and tomato in it...5.4%, and make Italian food taste amazing!

Now I know you guys are talking about root beer, RIGHT. Seeing that there is no alk. permitted in CT. state parks.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that part. This is a Maple Barley Root Beer. Not to be confused with that alcoholic barley beer.
