      Sam,

I do remeber the 25xs tunnel project. I thought that Schmerbach had one of those things too.

At the pro nationals this year I spent a lot of time with John Hudson. John is the Yamato dealer down under and force behind their tunnel Yamato class.
The boat they use is a Desilva. Ralph and John go way back and John asked Ralph to draw plans for a all purpose, run in any kind of slop, stable boat.
According to John they run in the mid 60's with it and turn the motor up to about 7500 rpm. They have to use the factory prop but you can modify the prop. The motor is set up with no trim tabs and the prop shaft is run about even with the bottom of the boat. He said that the tunnel design still allows sufficient water to the foot for cooling. The motor specs must meet UIM standards. I don't know if they have a minimum weight. John said they have about 25 guys who race this thing.

FYI. He has a never run, OMC A racing motor for sale with foot. If any one is interested contact me as I have all of John's contact info.
