  • Equipment List (* Please Read )

This is a idea that Dean brought to my attention back in the spring and we thought this might be a good time to table this idea and see what you guys think. I will add the attachment later tonight or first thing in the morning.

    Dan

Every year at the Annual Mtg. a equipment list is brought up, or a lack of one. So......I sat down and tried to compile one. This is stricktly from my memory and contact information. Please review it and let me know the people I have missed. Also give some suggestions about what else should be included. I think I will add the Regions and Clubs and contact people for both.

I beleive the intent would be to take this list and have if included into a promotional brochure.....at least that was the suggestion of the Stock category.

Dan my next thought is for you to post the list somewhere on this site as a link. After we compile the complete list we can add pictures of the different manufactures boats, engines, hardware, ect. and make their available links live. The goal would be to try and make the most complete virtual "online" outboard directory we can. Personally I think this is the best outboard site out their with the most visablility so it makes sense that this would be the home for such a virtual directory.

Everyone please look the list over and start sending me feedback via this thread. I will continue to refine it and then work with Dan to turn it into the virtual outboard "yellow pages"

    Thanks,
    Dean Sutherland

Ps. Please nobody take offense to being left off, I did this from memory and my contact book.

    Any thoughts?

Cmon, no feed back, we spend an hour at each national mtg. discussing the lack of a list. The idea is to build the "virtual" outboard racing yellow pages on the Hydroracer web site.....

What do people think, will this solve the list needs....I have talked with Dan and am hoping we can get this done prior to that National mtg. We can take a good look at is their....then maybe each category can make a donation to the site from their promotional funds. I think all three APBA catagories should....SO, MOD, and Pro all seem to use this site to convey their important information.

    Any thoughts?

      Feedback

Am I missing something? What all will be on the list? Who is it meant to help? In other words, is this something aimed at new racers? Or is it just something that's been lacking from the community in general? And does it have anything to do with the boat builder list Bill P. has been compiling for the Stock Commission?

      Sorry about all the questions!

Something that has been lacking from the community....Dan should be posting what I have done so far soon. It will just be a list of all the boat builders, hardware vendors, engine builders, safety equipment providers ect.

Just one central place to be able to go and look up contact information for anything outboard related. You and I both know where to go get stuff, but a lot of racers feel like this is something that is needed to support the new person. To have the ability to say...."go to this site and you will find everything you need to get started".

We talk about it every year at the meeting, just thought it was time to get it done.

Sounds like a great idea-- thanks for taking it on, Dan & Dean.

I guess figuring out the proper method for funding will be another big step.

By engine builders, is that manufacturers/engine sellers or the people to whom you send your powerhead? I'll have to check out the format, of course, but I wonder if it would be useful/manageable to include more racing services in addition to equipment (photographers, journalists, referees, etc. etc.).

Concerning engines, my thoughts would be to have two different catagories. New engine purchases and a services section.

            Dan where is our list?

            Keep the ideas coming.....

I have my list that Ed asked each Class Commitee member to provide. Ed assigned a commitee member for each class at the National Meeting. I was in charge of the 25ssr. We had 3 people to oversee this class due to the 3 motors eligable to run in this class 1.Yamato-Mike Ross 2.Darryl Ludwig-Hot Rod 3.Brian Rodes-Mercury I had a contact list for all those motor brands. Under each motoer I listed as many key people that specialized in that brand of motor. Some people were listed twice as some had more knowledge. I also provided a list of Suppliers for Boats, Hardware, Safty Equipment. Ed should have recieved a similar list from all Class Commitee Chairpersons. We need to get these lists put together and orginized. If we have a new member that needs any info we go to these lists so the new member is directed by those people. They are the specialists and can provide this new member information so they can be handled professionaly on there needs to obtain equipment. Let me know if you need my list. Mike

I do need it, but lets wait until Dan posts mine. We will use this as the starting point and then add all the suppliers and contacts that I missed!

We should be able to get it pretty fleshed out very quickly!

Then we will carve out a space for it on Hydroracer. Eventually it would be cool if suppliers with web sites could add their hyperlink. This way you would be able to go to the Hydroracer yellow pages and link right into the suppliers web site. The central location is really the "value add" of the list. Once central location for everything.

Mike why havn't you returned my calls....
