    Graphite Myths

Sam Hemp told me once that he started using graphite on the bottoms becasue it is simply a step you skip later on by adding clear coat or varnish after the epoxy.

As for speed advantage... in racing conditions I have not seen any significant changes. In testing with and without, maybe a slight change. I could make more differences in pounding a prop on the trailer hitch than the graphite made.

Pops67G - Yes, you seem to float around a lot.. lol !! I prefer to have a very small amount of the rear end of the boat in the water, it handles much better for my applications. Another factor is the weight of th eengine difference. A typical 850CCMH OMC 3 Cyl with racing tower and gearbox will weigh in between 130 - 150 pounds. I really like some stability when she decides to dance.

      Mas Epoxy

I switched to Mas epoxy. They offer a finishing epoxy with UV blockers (no blush) in their mix. More money than West but I like their products. I use Z-spar urethan varnish in the cockpits. Just scuff and recoat cockpit about every two years. Just my 2cents.
