Michigan state parks recognizes boat races

Went the the Michigan DMV the other week and got my 2011 plate tags. The state know offers a $10 state parks permit option on your vehicle registration that allows you to enter any Michigan state parks for the year. Along with the purchase of said permit you receive a packet full of discount coupons and a state parks 2011 schedule of events guide. I opened up the pack and low and behold on the front page of the 2011 schedule I saw the following. Lets hope it brings some people to this MHRA event. These schedues are passed out at all Michigan DMV & state parks outlets by the thousands.

This is pretty cool that a state would put this kind of promotion in their anual circular. One question though... How did it get there in the first place? I would like to know so that maybe we could arrange for something similar down here in TX.

How did it get there

Each Michigan state park submits it's calendar of events to the State parks head office so it can be published every year in this schedule. Your local state park ranger that is responsable for working with your club for your event would be the person to talk to about getting the date in the yearly schedule brochure.

I might add that you should try and submit your own verbig for the calendar.
I think people may be a little confused by the statement

"Mini Hydroplane races".

Some people may think of R/C boats or even worse seaplane races?
