    Safety?

Looks really pretty until a propellor cuts into them. I suggest leaving them in the pits where they belong and obviously would be very comfortable. It would be strange to not have pebbles and sand tearing apart my feet at a race.

No, I wear 9" leather Red Wing boots with a steel toe and steel shank with kevlar socks. I have seen way too many friends with prop cuts to the feet over the years.

Thanks Jeff. I guess I should wear more than I do but I really hope not to be in a spot where damage will occure to the feet or hands. Wishful thinking. I do wear the Kevlar socks

Sweet jet ski boots Dan. They look comfortable. Bottom line...If you want to still have a foot if it is hit by a prop you need chainsaw boots. They are built with the specific intention of protecting your foot and ankle from sharp flying metal objects. Made from Kevlar and steel Royer makes the best set. I will be useing the royer boots and kevlar socks and I guarantee the protection is the best this planet has to offer. see for yourself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GecC1ZI0Wk&NR=1

Jeff with all due respect let’s be real for a minute, how many guys wear real certified Chain Saw boots at the races? Anyway in my opinion they are safe and I would have no problem at all wearing them.

There is a post some where on HR that says if you are afraid of getting hurt you probably should not be racing anyway. Of course safety should always be every driver’s top priority but I honestly don’t see these boots falling into the category of un-safe.

Have you seen some the beat to **** Kevlar’s that many guys are still wearing :-)

It’s a dangerous sport, buy the best safety gear that your budget will allow and have fun :-)

Many of the guys is this video are wearing t-shirts and shorts :-) dont over complicated an already dying sport :-)

Sonny, just wondering how the boots hold up after repeated soaking and drying cycles.

                Thx,

I might not wear chainsaw boots, but after seeing Cavanaugh's foot after his CMH flip, I ALWAYS were nice leather work boots and kevlar socks.

he was wearing some nice boots and one blade went about 1.5 inches into the rubber and made a nice large bruise on his foot. I couldn't image if he hadn't been wearing those.

After spending $1,600 on safety equipment, a pair of $100+ nice boots doesnt seem to complicate things too much for me.

Dan, thanks for the post I know where you were coming from . I think if nothing else it brings up a valid point for all drivers. I was witness to a crash last year as in a few boat lengths behind Mike Ross when he ended up losing a toe. That said I have been on the hunt for practical safety boot. At the end of the day there is no perfect solution but there are choices. Here's one that I'm looking into, http://www.militarybootsdirect.com/b...-610-z-st.html.

                      Sam,

Thats very true. and I don't mean to start anything, just something that personally gets me thinking what if?

But obviously anyone can wear what they want, and those would probably be very comfortable and if anything make racing a bit easier with better footing and what not.

I just personally wouldnt wear them, and I have a feeling a lot of people would wear something like these. I see people wearing light shoes like that all the time.

I always wore sneakers. After I got my bell rung last season I decided that sneakers was probably not the best thing. I have a stack of bills here for medical stuff approaching $200,000.00. Thank god for health ins. So I was motivated to find good footwear /safety gear. For me to race again I want the closest thing to a guarantee against being hurt that I can get and I am simply sharing what I found.
