      What a great cause,
Even though I can't attend, I will be making a donation via mail.
It really makes me and my family feel like a part of the effort.
Have a few "sodas" for me.

                      Friday icebreaker

Who will be in town Friday night at Marriott/B.Western, to convene for a meet and greet? Would someone that knows the area post a central watering hole address/time, to have barley beverages.

And it's a fabulous 50 degrees in Quincy, MA right now. The sun is shinning, the snow is melting, and we are 24 away from a good party for a worthy cause.

                            All's well that ends well!

Drove out Friday morning, 10hr drive, sunny all the way down.
Billy graciously invited us to his place Friday evening to meet Rachel, Jodi, Racer, Jim, Dave, and the gang, prepping the boats and large posterboards with pics/stories, to be displayed Saturday night. Beer was cold and hospitality was warm.
Saturday evening, the hall was very nice, high up on a hill with a view, with 4 boats(250 laydown, Nora OConnor, etc), the posterboards and a video/screen set up at one end, the band and dance floor in the middle, and bar at the far end. The band was great, playing rockin blues and jazz, and with some impromptu guests taking the mike to sing.
To support the team, guests and friends came from as far as Ca, Fl, and Wi.

Top of my night was getting a New England linguistics lesson from Steve Noury: I felt like Eliza in Pygmalion. Instead of 'the rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain',...it was ' I drove mah cah to the bah in Glastah, for a cup'a chowdah an lobstah wi buttah, ana pint'a Sammy's', LOL...I was also corrected,....it's not Haverhill, it's 'Heyvril'.....I'm a cultured man now!

Drove out Sunday morning, hooked up briefly w Shawn Cavanaugh (or Cavnah??), then stopped in at Heyvrill for gas/donuts at Dunkin D's. A big Grizzly bearded guy walks up, gives me the eye, virtually saying 'what the hell that boat doin here on your roof, with foreign plates, in Feby.' I wasn't sure if he was scratching his a--, or reaching for his Bowie knife. Fortunately he was scratching his a--,....really working it....noticeably hard.

Turns out he's a huge boat racing fan, watches the Heyvrill river race every year, knows the Noury clan real well, Steve, Tim, Dad, uncle, raced cars with them. We talked boat racing like giddy school girls talking guys at a sleep over. He said Noury's are great people,...which I already knew
Steve and Tim, Steve Fife(sp?) says HI!

Big thanks to Billy, Racer, SSOA gang, US A-Team crew, racers, and friends for a great weekend. Pleased to support the US A-Team!...might see you in Estonia to lend a hand.
                            Cheers,
                            Erik and Kristian
