    More Manly Men

    Brent Walburn 39W, 1-US '91 & '02
    Sam Hemp 67W/6W
    Harry Pinner Sr. 2F
Dave Anderson 56R, has made the final, all but a couple of times, if that, since the very early 90's.
Mark Wheeler 16M, more 1-US second places than should be allowed.

Dave, I also heard that about "COACH", Craig "Turn 1" Nelson.

        D Hydro...

Well, Ivan Harris, 510-U was really fast in the '50's He set his boat up in Denver, when he came to California, and single bouy turns, he ran on the beach. But bounced back to win the Nationals in '52 and '53...and managed to get himself DQ'd after he'd been let go from inspection...Somebody's reed stops were too high and Ivan asked what did his measure and they said, "TOO HIGH"... A real gentleman, somewaht in the mold of Jerry Waldman and Bobby Switzer...

in all do respect to D Hydro, and man should include Jimbo mcConnell. Jimbo's 1964 short sonoson Sid won just about every D Hydro race in California, 1964, a timing belt hurt him at the Nationals...

Ted may seldom ventured far from California, but his 1964 D Hydro was really fast and in inspestion they found two teen off his gears in the foot..

Louis Wheel won that year, and his 55-H was the highest revinging 55 I ever heard...

Don't forget, Deny and Dewey Berghauer's DSH's in the '60's....

I won't get into this as I never liked DSH, but I did get second in '66, '68 and '77....and was 1-C for ten or more years...

Don't leave Jimmy Dawe out either....his 44XS was fast...so was his three screw port cover motor that he won the Nationals in Utah with, 1973....Even though I beat him at the Divisionals, and elected NOT to run DSH at the NAtionals as I had a new baby coming!

That one is HAULING the mail! I've been above it once for two of three laps before something went wrong... And, just checked the data; my max speed was 80.1mph at the end of the straightaways - talk about corner speed!

the DSH class phased out in FL for the most part and hes been running in the pro cleasses, hes been running 500, 700, and 1100 ever since. He ran a few years of SST 120 until the boat owner of his DSH and SST120 GENE ARBIB lost his battle with cancer. He is now living in kansas down the road from me ( stationed at Fort Riley). He'll be running 700 and 1100 this year, and i will run 250 and 500.
