  • Hull ID?

Hello, new to this awesome forum. I picked up this hull local, comes from southerm MN. Its 11ft long, 5ft beam. Looks like a Jupiter or Ben Hur from the few pics I can find. Looking to remove the woodpecker beak and get it back to how it was designed. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Hydro ID

The hydro is not a Hal Kelly Jupiter or a Ben Hur. The Jupiter was only a bit over 10 ft and both Jupiter and Ben Hur were designed with S curve bottoms. Your hydro does not have an S bottom and the deck line, cowl and cockpit sides are not of the Ben Hur design. Here is a link for Hal Kelly designs:

Thanks. That answers that. It looks as if the cockpit sides have been altered at least a couple times. Once I get that nose off hopefully I can get an idea of the original shape. Does it look like it was intended to be a cabover design?

No, I do not think it originally was a cabover. I think the cockpit was extended forward.

I think the transom and afterplane will be the biggest clues to the original design.

My guess would be that the cockpit was extended forward to make a place for a passenger
