....my old man had a straightaway and closed course record and marathon nationals.I went to a lot of races with him as a kid. About the only time I can remember seeing him beat was when a kid named Ron Hill did it at the nationals in Worcester,Mass. when my dad was just about done racing.
Trying to beat him a marathon was folly,especially when the win was worth serious money. We buried him in his APBA Champions jacket
