  • What do the dumb-masses know?

What is the most important single issue the Stock Outboard Racing Commission has to address at the National Meeting this year?

Please limit your answer to just a few words.

                  Top of the Agenda!

Change the way Commissioners are elected at the region level!

Conducting the elections at the region meetings is absurd. The very, very small number of members who attend the region meetings are the electorate...are you kidding me? This process was created several years ago in an attempt to place greater emphasis on attending the region meetings. It has not worked and will not work.

You have people elected who have never expressed their platform to the region membership. You have 5-15 people voting...instead of the entire region membership.

Change the election process to ballots by mail...like APBA conducts ALL other elections (BOD).

This gives Commission candidates the opptortunity to express their position and platform in written form to all members of the region. ALL members of each region should have the fair opportunity to vote. I do not consider asking someone to drive 2,3,4 hours to a meeting fair. Wasting an entire day for that? When it can be accomplished more efficiently and fairly by mail? Really?

Let's correct this egregious process, please.

                  Dana

do away with the commissions. If not, then ditto to Dana's post.

                      Hey Dana
We vote by mail in ballot and if you don't trust the mail you can vote in person at the region meeting.........all the mail in votes and in person voting is tabulated while the region meeting is under way!! At least we do something right down here in the south!!

                      Go region 4!!

Hey Dana ya ever been to a APBA Commission meeting??? if so how many.

I find that about the only time ya get to the bottom of things is in person with other Commissioners--should have more than two face to face meetings in my opinion.
I use to talk about you guy's should do this and you guy's should do that--it came to light that if ya want something done there is no they only a Me.
So I started going and became a commissioner and accomplished most of what I set out to do mostly involving the Pro Capsule classes.

Pat, I was a Commissioner for 4 years and went to 3 National meetings.

That's not what I'm talking about.

I'm talking about the election of commissioners at Region meetings. It's a flawed process.

                            Region Elections

                            Dana,

In Region 10, we elect our commissioners and Region Officers by a mail-in ballot. And like Matt described in R4, people can walk their ballots up to the Region Secretary right up to the time the formal meeting is called to order. Ballots are counted at the meeting, and results are announced by meeting's end.

This process has served us well (at least in the 39 years I've been a member), and R10 was the biggest Region membership-wise overall in APBA in 2010.

If your region chairman or you would like a copy of our Region By-laws (which clearly outline the process and timelines for elections locally), or if you have questions on how to do it, let me know. I'd be glad to help you guys out.

                            Happy Holidays,

                            R-19
