That's the standard european prop guard. They allow starting & testing motors with the prop on over there.

Probably works really good.... until the prop hits the prop guard! I don't think it is necessary.

I think the guards are a lot stronger than you are guessing ... I think you'd be in the range of breaking the tower when you got the prop to hit the guard. Not necessary? You'd just run the motor with the prop on if you could?

I am guessing 250 maybe 175? How quick was he going?

I wouldn't want to be in it, wow!

Yes, its a 250. He upped the 250 record from 100 to 112+

I watched the video for about 5 minutes.

I kept thinking, "This guy's really flirting with disaster! One of these passes he's bound to blow over"!

Then I realized the video is repeating.

The video repeats because the engine is a looper.

Just Awesome! I like how he got the control issue worked out just in time on the return pass & settled into a smooth ride.

I don't think those guards are necessary. What about running the engines with open props while the skeg is resting on a wooden dock? This is a potentially dangerous sport. We can't write a rule for everything that might happen. If someone feels endangered, they should move out of the area and watch from a distance..... It is my opinion.
