  • Jesup Highlights

I don't have all the results but a few highlights from Saturday stick in my mind.
CSR saw R.C. Hawie dominate both heats in a 30 year old Austin roll up boat 44J. Nuch was second each heat in a newer 44F of R.C.'s.
AXR was the Becky Nichols show each heat with Max Acierno trying hard to catch her.
    AXH was John Wlodarski.
    ASH was John Wlodarski again.
JR saw Amy Waterson win the first heat easily, but the second heat saw Emily Hutchinson out run the rest in only her 2nd ever heat in JR. Amy won overall on time.
JH was Joey Waterson easily taking the first heat only to be an area code behind the field on the start of the second heat. Emily Hutchinson and Noah Romberg stole the start the second heat but Jack Cavanaugh took the win and first overall.
Not sure who won CSH ( I think it was Matt) but we saw the 16F do a complete spin and roll in turn one and stay in the cockpit but it swamped and he couldn't continue. Three-on was running his 25 with the C's and gave a swimming demonstration in turn 2. Both drivers were OK.
I got to see 1 heat of 25SSR and it was all Nuch with a Sidewinder.
If I remember correctly Matt won 20SSH.
I don't remember who won in the mods but it was a great show. The race committee ran the races off quickly and did a great job.
A tip of the hat to Howie Nichols. He took the test to become a scorer so we could have this race. We all owe Howie a HUGE THANK YOU!
Lets hope Sunday goes as smooth as Saturday!
Almost forgot,...It was great seeing the local kids having a Halloween party in the pits and trick or treating!

    Lemme see here . . .

Howie was on the stand doing scoring, and without Dad annoying her with race instructions Becky aced both heats! Hmm . . .

Lake Grace, aka: Jesup, GA lived up to its reputation as the most serene and beautiful race venues we go to.
Perfect weather, great water, misty sunrises, rainbows in Turn 1 in the PM sun,
and spectators on horseback over on the far shore.
The local county disabled youth group teamed with the club to do a Halloween theme day for the kids,
fed us from morning to nite, then prepared a super southern BBQ for us all, and left a big pot of boiled peanuts for those that 'dig' them[Selewach et al?].
      I hope they made $$$, but with h/dogs at a buck ..???
A local minister attended Sundays drivers meeting, thanked us all for coming to Wayne County,
said we were an inspiration to the kids[with our perserverance] and blessed us all.
Good turnout for a club race, 75+ I guess, no elims but good fields in DMR, DMH, CSR, CSH, 20sh, AXR etc.
The usual R-5 culprits, Nuccio, Hawie, Watersons, Nichols etc, and entrants from ME, NY, NJ, CT, TN, SC, NC, ??
Lots of runabouts, close to half the entrys it would appear.
Some 3-4 boat heats but the team of Dunlap, Brockmeyer, Nichols and Ref Nic Thompson kept things moving.
I was flagging for a spell SAT, and am used to 'Green Flag Giles' up in R-1, but Howie and Nic
had me in fits with the green going up before I got to put the checkered away
I hear there will be a spring Jesup, and it may be the SE Divisionals,
A no brainer in my book

We just got home from another Jesup adventure. Amy will be posting pictures on her facebook page tomorrow.

All classes ran both heats today and we were done around 2:30.
Excellent job by the race committee! If you have never been to Jesup you need to put it on your list!

        Thanks for a great weekend!

          80 Degrees and Sunny.....................

Another majestic weekend at fall Jesup. Nice to see all the out of region drivers come down for the new Camden of the south!! Jesup!!

Great place to be........no hassles about dogs, parking, noise etc etc. The dogs run free just like the 100 mph PRO boats! The event helps the local handicapped kids many of whom attend the event and meet the drivers!!

Many of us drive well over 600 plus miles to come here for the fun. Nice to see the Long Island crew (Luce, Voss, Murray, Neon-Ion Christopher and The Ascerino's with Johnny in tow) also FastJack from Maine came down. Eric Vanover and son made a cameo appearance long enough to cover the CMH and DMH boys all weekend.

Looks like the SE Divisionals for J Class, Stock Outboard and Modified Outboard will be taking place here sometime in April per Bungy Bob Dunlap.

We all hope Jimmy Warren heals up from his "Chipendale dancefloor encounter" Saturday night!! Some guys have all the luck!!

          See Ya.

            Congrats to RC.

He whipped my butt at the starting line all weekend.
All we needed was Bowman with his roll up.

I forgot the first rule. Don't let a roll up get to the turn before you. They make really big waves!

Amy went for a Victory Swim at Jesup. What a great place to score your first APBA win.
