How and when was 475lbs determined to be the minimum weight for CSR?

I've been racing CSR for 6-7 years. Always has been 475 lbs. Couldn't tell you when it was established, but the weight hasn't changed for awhile (many have tried unsuccessfully). I personally don't see any reason to change it...Kyle Bahl

too many big people run CSR.. Im probably 220-230 all geared up. I think i weigh in at 480+ something. I have no weights in the boat to remove if the weight goes down except the weight on my waist line.Silas Jordan

Come on I have a 160 lb driver....let's lower it maybe we would get one then. And CSH also while were at it...hell even TJ has to add lead in CSH...if you need my address let me know I'm be more than happy to provide."Ask anyone, I have no friends. The 475 weight was since Kevlars were mandated. Before that it was 470 since the mid 50'sJohn Runne

Stock Outboard is all about a level playing field.
True parity is one motor per class.
It's RACING, not just another boat ride!

Right now the 160 to 180 pounders have the B/20 classes to race in. I know the 200+lbs guys need an affordable class or two without getting pushed into an expensive and fast D. It's much easier to add a few pounds of lead than it is to lop off a leg to make weight. This reminds me, I need to get my arse out and run a few miles.

We have actually thought about it a little last year. When I saw Dean’s proposal I thought that might be the answer. Problem is when we thought about trying it I was afraid if Donny would wreck Backus’s boat I’m not sure I could afford it. But we shall see how things pan out…
Would solve my problem of what do I put Thomas in if he starts racing again…Donny in CSR & CSH, Thomas in the 20 and OSY. HMMMMMM something to think about. But I have to wait and see what happens in Detroit before I know what direction to go in."Ask anyone, I have no friends. according to my feeble memory....
I may be wrong but when we went from the 30H (110 lbs) to the 102 (89 lbs), we never lowered the weight in CSR and CSH.
Am I correct???
This is how we ended up with a "big boy's" class and I think it worked out for the better.
My vote (as if it really mattered) would be to leave it alone.
