Well Friday was move in day and a few people were in the pits with the equipment ready and waiting for testing. However they had to wait for the MHRA drivers school to conclude before they got the green flag. A great day of water and weather with temps in the low 70's. MHRA had 9 registered drivers for their 2nd drivers school of 2010. Club members had their hands full instructing and setting up equipment for these new racer prospects but a great time was had by all. Attached are some pics from that school.

You have to love the smile that people have on their face after their first boat ride.

Saturdays race
Well the bad weather held off till around 12:00 noon and then the rain came in which was off and on till the end of the race day. A chill in the air brought out the sweets and hoodies. Only had two short rain delays. Most people were wet and cold however after the last race of the day which was the marathon. Here are a few results. Chime in if you have more.
1. 1st in AXSR - Peter Lauer - by a large lead both heats
2. 1st CSH - Tom Johnson - Played it smart and didn't jump the start
3. 1st JR - Grant Hearn - Collin Smith tied on time - one winning each heat
4. 1st ASH - Ron France - Played it smart and didn't jump the start
5. ASR - Terry Kerr
6. MARATHON
CSR - Kim Parks by a 1/4 lap. Then Mark Kurz . Then Adam Low
ASR - Terry Kerr by 3/4 lap. Then Brett Pruett Sr.
25 SSR - Peter Lauer - Only 25 boat in the race. Very fast ride.
DSR - Not sure - Sorry
Inflatible - Not sure - Only two boatsLast edited by Tomtall; 09-11-2010, 05:59 PM.Tom L.

Grass Lake - Sunday
Well the day started out good. Then the wind came.
The morning marathon race started with winds at about 10 MPH,sunny and temp's in the 60's. Marathon race was finished at 11:15 a.m.
After the short course was set out the 20 ssh class was put on wind delay for a time then all class were put on hold till 2:00 to see if the wind would die down. It got stronger.
Races cancelled for the day.
Thanks for trying MHRA. See everyone next weekend at Big Rapids.Tom L.

Thanks for posting some pictures of MHRA Racer School. I know Charity Sutherland took a ton and we will try to post more as soon as we can. Not to split hairs, but we had 11 participants in the #2 racer school of 2010 which made it tough to manage, but our biggest and most successful school by far. Because of the large number it took a little longer than we would have liked it to, however each participant got 3 separate turns in a boat and with their last being next to an instructor in a "simulated" competition format.
Too many people to thank, but we a large group of members fill in some gaps to make it all happen. Each participant went away with a big smile, t-shirt (provided by Red Rocket), and a cerficate. 3 of them raced the next day and would have on Sunday as well if it weren't for that wind. Everyone else walked away with a great memory and we are hopeful that at least 2 other will get in a boat in the near future (possibly at Big Rapids).
