  • 25xs Shear PIns

Where is the best place to buy shear pins for a 25xs mercury? Are all shear pins created equal or are some better than others?

I've almost always used 3/16 inch stainless steel rod. Never have had a problem and have used some for more than two seasons. Simply hit with a hammer and straighten them out. Buy the stuff at good hardware stores or hobby shops. Some prefer something fancy like SS bolts etc but I've always been happy. Use them in my C Mod also. Jack

Brown Tool or Tom Cronk also carry the correct shear pin.

        Aircraft Clevis Pins

        Here............

The effective length is the diameter of your hub so you can get a cotter pin in the hole.

        Good Luck.

I ran aircraft clevis pins for years, they always bent, now I use Johnson Evinrude dive pins...never sheared one on a 25XS, use 1 all year long on an A.

          307949 long (1 & 3/8") or 324690 short (1.25"), readily available at most marinas.
