free camping area
Just informed today by Woodward Township they closed a small portion of the free camping area in the upper Lockport camping area. The spot closed off is a small triangle near the entrance and had never been used before last year. Another closed-off area is a right-of-way leading to the soccer fields. The rest of the camping area is still open as usual, first-come, first-served. Bad thing is, they didn't contact the Jaycees, I heard it through the grapevine and asked them about it. Secretary just found out this morning.
Hoping for a great weekend,
Scott Johnson

When you go over the bridge to Lockport for the pits, turn left instead of right. The first driveway/road you see on the left is the out driveway for the camping area. Wind around to the right and then to the left and the entrance drive will be on your left. You'll see the RVs.

There is plenty of room for tenting, near the entrance and near the exit of the park. 2 fairly distinct areas and both will have racers staying there. The available space is never used up ... maybe actually 60% full at most, maybe only 40%.
Tenting is allowed in the east end of the pit area as well.Last edited by sam; 09-01-2010, 06:31 PM.

Anyone else finding it hard to concentrate at work in the days leading up to Lock Haven? In my mind I am already headed into the first turn. And the ice cold water in the cooler is making me shiver, and my head isn't even in the cooler yet. Be there tomorrow morning about 7 am. See you all there. SAFE DRIVING to all! GregFuture J dad!

Sibling Rivalry Racing Team is heading North in a couple hours. Going to try to drive straight through. Looks like 18 hours on the road. May need help finding a campground when we get there if the camping spaces are full.
Russ, Annette, Joe, Amy, and Pete the Wonder Dog.
P.S. Howie,... We are going to take the flattest route. 95-17-66-81 blah blah blah, to avoid as many hills as possible as we are loaded down quite heavily. If you have any problems DO NOT HESITATE to call my cell. We will drop the trailer somewhere and head back South if you need us to. Safe travels!_____________________________________________

Lock Haven
Rounding up the 'New England Tour' at Racers on Bailey Island. Headed to Quincy to round up some 'World Class' Equipment and off to Lock Haven for my first time since '90'.
Last time we got in late, checked in to the 'Falon'. We were missing one of the panes in our window, All of a sudden Mike Kench steps off the fire escape through the window, apparently into the wrong room, and says, "Mark Kurz, nice to see ya" Ah, the memories! See ya' Friday! KampKurz
