        Dieter

I agree, I think it is Dieter, probably somewhere in his mid 30's.

That is Hans Krage from Berlin. He drove for Dieter after Kurt Mischke retired.

Hans Krage was very good/best friends with Dieter, but I think Hans owned the boats he drove.

Hans is a good guy. He took me under his wing in 1988-1990 when I was stationed with the US Army Berlin. He sponsored me in OSY 400 on the German circut and I pit crewed for his son Peer at the 1989 World Championships in CA.

                  1977 Weetern Alky Divisionals.............

That is Hans..........I met him in the Fort Worth Texas area during the Baldwin reign in 1977. He and Dieter while in there German Speedo's (Alla Bill Walker) met the bright Texas sun and got roasted like marshmellows on a open flame. Old man Baldwin had one of his 'good ole boys' round up some Alavera plants, cut em open and spread that goo all over the two of them. Next day the two of them were golden brown, feelin fine and looked like beach boys..........Made me a believer in Aloe.

Best PRO Race I ever witnessed. Guess everything is a little bigger and better in Texas !!

                    hans krage

At the 77 Western Divisionals I gave Hans a root beer. He had never heard of one, don't know what he expected. He spit it out and said it tasted like a urinal. He won the OF in Fort Worth. A unique aspect of that race were the three one of a kind Konig engines that took the top three spots. Mine was a dual rotary valve 4 carb konig built by Marshall Grant. I was allowed to race but since it was an OE I had no official final postition. Hans won with a 6 cylinder Konig that was only good for smooth water. Everytime it overrevved, on the bank or jumping out of the water, the crankshaft twisted. Dan Kirts was driving for Marshall and he had that twin 500cc monster that Marshall put together. Marshall was a very good mechanic and thinker
