      Depue Sunday

The day started out foggy, but a couple of things were pretty clear, racing was going to be hot and competitive!

      1100R
The sweetest sound in the world fired up with Paul Fuchslin and Joe Johnson headed to the water along with Derek Gesler and Stevie Hoot, Mike Thirlby and Julia Baker, and Dwight Malhoit and Wendy Eldredge hitting the water.

Derek and Stevie hid in plain site with a full straight-away lead at the end of the first heat, with Mike and Julia second.

In the second heat a repeat of the first was in order until Derek came to a screaming halt in the back stretch, having "blowed it up." Mike and Julia took the heat.

In the third heat, Dwight and Wendy had a full 4 laps and finished behind Paul and Joe, Julia and Mike, as overall, Mike and Julia won it again.

      125H

Twenty three 125's hit the water in some great racing. BJ Tetro the defending champ won a heat, but got pitched out in the second heat. Amy Nydahl won the other heat and this set up a second heat with the two heat 1 winners and a second place boat. Amy was out front win it let go and she ended up sitting watching her competitors. Kevin Ellison in the first heat had a great run picking up good points which would serve him well in the end as he won overall.

      250H
19 250H hit the water with plenty of competition on the water and big time driving. Mike Schmidt the younger in a brand new boat took heat 1A and looked very fast, later the speed bug bit him and he got pitched out in the start of the 3rd heat to end his opportunity at a championship. David Mitchell finished 2nd, but blew her up just after crossing the finish line, and he thought his day was done. Later because of some issues in 350H related to a restart, the Augustine's, Tim Borway and others chipped in and started to try to put it back together. A little thrashing as the rings did not fit right, but somehow they got it back together and he finished up winning over all. Brandon Thirlby had 800 points going into the final with David at 700 and Brandon finished one position too far back to win.

      Brandon Thirlby
      Mike Schmidt

      350R
Rich Krier began the first heat out front and never was headed for a really convincing win. Tim Small who had lost a blade on his best prop in the 500R the day before was off the pace, but we all know Tim is not going to give up and he used good starts to be toward the front. With Mike Krier being sidelined by the broken pelvis, the Krier's ever the sportmans, leant the powerfull Mikey motor to the overall winner Brian Payn. Rich still had a chance, but jumped the gun and that ended the opportunity in the third heat.

      Brian Payn
      Rich Krier
      Tim Small

      Top Hydro.
Our thanks to Deborah and Robbie Galleta who donated 1000.00 to win and 500.00 for second for top hydro. Sean McKean was ready to take the table, having won the 500-700 titles on Friday and Saturday and now was prepared to win them all. He won the first two heats in convincing fashion as he won by large margins, only to have the all important third heat see a half lap from the finish watch it go away, as he went dead on the back stretch and Brandon Thirlby who had worked hard all weekend, finally put one in the book with a Top Hydro win. Doug Hall unfortuanately ran over the bouy in the third heat and that took him out of contention.

A hats off to Cory Peabody who climbed into the famous R-12 of Howard Anderson fame and did him proud. Cory's first time in the boat was on Friday and he got faster and faster all weekend. Welcome and well done Cory!

Thanks again to Sue, Todd, Paulie and all those who helped put this show together on the water and what can you say about the Depue Men's club with Steve Solario and Mayor Eric Bryant.

A wonderful heartfelt tribute was done each day by Alan Bosnich to Frank Solario, who lost his battle with Cancer a few weeks before this great race. On Sunday his bride of 33 years, Lynn was presented the cap and shirt that would have been Frank's to wear on the last day of the finals. All of the drivers and crews came up from the pit area and surrounded the PA booth as Steve, Frank's brother, and President of the Men's Club, with much emotion, presented the cap and shirt to Lynn.

Thanks again, and we will see you down the road. I will get Saturday's up later tonight or tomorrow.

      Ray

Family... you couldn't have said it better

You are exactly right when you say it is a family event. Being able to grow up around boat racing has definitely given me a second family that I often times only see in the summer.. What a great 2 weeks of racing. Congratulations to all the champions, but especially to my little brother :-)

Thanks Carl, hopefully we can wait a few years on the beer pong! Thanks to everyone for their phone calls....the Title Series for an awesome race, the Depue Men's Club, everyone who helped us..Joe...Terri...Lauren...Aaron...Rocky....Lisa. It was amazing, and Susan and Ashley for being the best pit crew, Ashley pulled that motor over for him every single heat and testing. We only wish Grandpa Howard Anderson and MaPen could have been there, but they got to listen to the play by play from Ray Rodda over the phone. Thank you to the Eldridge/Sailer pits for an awesome dinner, you all are great people and everyone at Depue earns great kudos for being such great people. We are so glad we made the trip. Thanks to all of you.

The 2010 Pro Nationals are in the books.
I always say the week isn't over until the parks is put back in shape like we weren't there and the barge is out of the water and in storage. We had the park clean up by 3:30 Monday afternoon and the barge out of the water last night Tuesday once it everything was done we had just 1 more beer before we went home.
What can you say about the voice of the Pro Nationals Mr. Ray Rodda, HOLY BUCKETS he keeps you in stitches all the time he's makes a call on the mike.
I think the Holy Buckets was over the early prediction.
Great job by our refree's Fred Schletty and his Assistant Otis I'm mean Nic Thompson
Sue and all the ladies that worked on the barge what a great team.
Our Race Chairman Todd was up in his sky box keeping the racing moving in a quick pace. One thing wrong with his sky box the air conditioner wasn't working to good. and there wasn't any refreshment allowed up their until after the races. If you catch my what I'm saying
A special thanks goes out Abbi the Prop Riders Hospitality director she took care of everything we asked her to do.
What can i say about our rescue boat driver Fred Mason he was on the water all 5 day's he does a great job.
The turn judges and patrol boat drives thanks.
Paulie, Ben, Jason, and Denny for setting the course and barge up.
Randy is one of the patrol boat drivers from town he has been doing this for 26 straight years that's a lot of work to sit on the water all that time, also I would like to thank Dale and his sister Debbie for coming out of retirement and helping out on the water this year, I owe yous one.
Our flag man Jake Quesse what a great job he did, I think he thought we were kidding him in Constantine when asked him to flag and then do the Nationals. He might have to go on the road with us.
Congratulation to all the Champions and special congrats to Paulie of the Prop Riders, way to go.
Hope to see everyone in 2011 we are tying the races into the DePue's 150th birthday plus I heard they are planing another boat racers reuion
                      See you next year.
                      Big Pal

How do I begin to talk about what a great family the Title Series and Men's CLub has become over 26years.
It showed on Sunday afternoon when over 100 drivers and crew members were present at the PA booth as Slick presented his late brother Frankie shirt and hat to his sister in law Lynn, and after the presentation everyone went up and shook the family's hand and told them how sorry they were for their loss.
For yous that didn't know Frankie he was the Sec. of the club and he took care of the vendor's on the street. He was taken from us at the young age of 55 about a month ago.
He was watching over us all weekend
                        He'll be sadly missed.
                        Thanks to great family

Paul-Dale and I did enjoy being out there again. It was just like old times, minus the swimming suit! There is no other way to watch the races then on the water.
