  • Almost Live From Constantine

OK so I left my camera in the trailer and can't download pictures tonight at the house but I can tell you that the day was perfect weather wise. A little windy at times and turn 2 got rock'n and rolling like it usally does but not to many spills and thrills.

In the "Race For Kaos" 20ssh race Dana Holt was on fire. I have video that I will share Monday wth you. It was Dana taking the wins in both heats with "Smok'n" Joe Patter close on his heels in the second heat.

LOTS of gun jumpers in all classes all day long giving some "also rans" some wins. Some entire heats were red flaged due to entire field of boats jumping the gun.

Come on guys and gals remember ----- One Mississippi, Two Mississippi, Three Mississippi

Sundays weather forcast looks great. Drivers meeting at 9:30 sharp !!

        What A Day !!!

Sunday - Fathers Day at Constantine.

What a great day of racing and weather !!!!

The 2010 winner of "The Race For Kaos" ended being Dana Holt. Congrates to Dana and his great looking new watch.

Best race of the day possibly was in ASH when Amy Sweeny and Tracy Trolian went deck to deck for 3 laps with Amy just inching past Tracy at the finish line. Everyone was on their feet.

Thanks to all of those that attended and to Joe and all the people at the Constantine American legeon post 223 for another job well done.

MHRA did a bang up job as well and a big thanks to Marla Alkema for doing the great job as chief scorer. (her first race as cheif scorer) Ya done good Marla.

The picture below is of John Broge and his son JR having a great time racing on fathers day.

          A few more from Sunday

          A few more from Sunday.

NOTE: MHRA photographer John Swartz and Adam Low have hundreds of action shots of Augusta and Constantine 2010. As soon as John gets all the pictures edited and on his photo bucket web site I will give you the link.

The weekend was typical weather for our Father's Day Constantine race: hot and hotter. The action on the water was the same.

Although we were slightly down on entries (105), it certainly didn't stop some folks for going for the gold. Gun jumping and disqualifications were very common for the weekend, with everyone searching for that slight edge to get to the finish first. In one of the oddities of the weekend, I don't believe B Stock Runabout had a driver besides Cooper Jess who was DQ'ed at least twice!

The East Coast had a strong showing with the Nuccio, Runne, and part of the Glossner Team making the trip west to our historical race site. Thanks for putting on the miles guys!

It was a wonderful to hear our Mod Hydros return to the water, and even better to see some D Stock Hydro competition. Fred Hauenstein and Larry Gottschalk put together one heck of a show on Sunday, showcasing over 100 years of racing experience for them to finish 1 and 2.

Jake Alkema also had a good run this weekend. In 2009 Alkema was chasing Dylan Runne all season for the High Point and National Titles finishing 2nd to Dylan in both cases. Constantine was no exception as Jake put up one heck of a fight in AXSR only to finish 2nd to the hard charging Runne on Sunday. Alkema however had different plans for 25SSR as he took a 1st on Sunday with solid driving against some hearty veterans.

And who can't stop talking about Andrew Tate? The guy banged every start possible in CSH to take a first on Sunday (and I believe Saturday?). He was not left unchallenged though with Ryan Burdick showing everyone just how high a hydroplane can actually fly without going airborne.

The race of the weekend on Sunday inbetween Tracy Trolian and Amy Sweeney with the two women going side by side for 2 heats, 6 laps. In the end, Sweeney won out over Trolian, but look out for the next time these gals get together!

The Race 4 Kaos in memoriam of Kevin Ladd came down to Dana Holt and Joe Pater on Sunday. With Tim Sidor and Andrew Tate cooking motors on Saturday, Holt and Pater were only seperated by 100 points for the final heat on Sunday. All looked good for a classic showdown between two great drivers until the first turn on the first lap in which Pater was thrown out of his boat, which was not without a valiant attempt to right himself back into the race (half in the water, half on the deck, hand on the steering wheel and throttle). Holt easily finished the race, winning the plaque and the beautiful Bulova Watch (courtesy of Van Valkenberg Jewlers). It could not be more fitting for one of the hardest working members of TRORA (Three Rivers Outboard Racing Assoc.) to win one of MHRA's most coveted honors.

All in all it was a wonderful weekend which could not have been possible without the very very generous donations of Westside Distributing Company and our longtime host, American Legion #223 Constantine, MI.

            Next up: Grass Lake Divisionals!!!!

            P.S.
And of course, I personally CANNOT forget to thank Gary Miskerik for all the help he has given me (or I won't stop hearing about it!!!). For an old guy who "sits around and does nothing but tell you what to do", he sure has helped me a ton! Thanks Butch!
