US-A Team: Brodenbach or Bust!

On the eve of Wednesday, June 9th the US-A Team flies out to Brodenbach, Germany to compete in the 125cch World Championships. With the equipment shipped and awaiting their arrival, the team is chomping at the bit waiting to compete. Having finished 6th last year, the team has hopes for a top 5 finish this year. This year's team consists of team captain Billy Allen, followed by Paul Bosnich III, Rachel Warnock, Racer Allen, Craig and Nance Dewald. The team would like to extend their most sincere thanks to all their supporters as this would not be possible without their help. Thanks for putting the "US" in the "US-A Team".

Alright Sportsfans!!!!!

Well, if you haven't heard already, here's the official report:

Billy Allen took an 11th, 12th and a DNF for a 17th overall. There was engine trouble early on and the style of boat definitely gave Allen a disadvantage on the course, in comparison with the Europeans.

Amy Nydahl took two 13ths and got 19th overall. She drove hard, no doubt about it!

The course had both left and right turns, was narrow considering it was to hold 20 boats, was very rough, and no less than 5 boats were dead in the water by the end of the 6 laps in each heat.

The fourth heat was canceled when one of the drivers was severely injured and had to be rushed via helicopter to the hospital.

Please note that no US-A Team funds were used in this venture. Also, please watch for a more detailed report in Propeller Magazine.

Oh yea, I should mention that I have never seen so many spectators in my life....the banks of the river were lined for at least 2 miles on each side. We had to put up tape to keep the people out of the hot pits and the duck and weave was a must for getting from one end to the other.

2- After a 6 year hiatus, Billy learned that one cannot simply chug 16 beers.
3- Drivers or pit crew had to paddle from the dock to the starting jetty. Very amusing to watch.
