I just talked to Tony Lombardo and there was also a different accident in the same heat with Ken Christie. Troy Christie's killswitch failed coming into the pits and and his DMR an up the beach and into Ken. Ken is in the hospital with an apparent cut from his shin to ankle from the motor stag. Ken also has multiple compound leg fractures. Thinking of both these men and pray for there speedy recovery.

              ADD: Parallel Parking

In 1947 my dad was coming into the pits at Lake Elsinore in his C Racing Runabout. The pits were very crowded, and his throttle had been sticking, as he approached the pits, he realized his throttle was stuck, so he hit the throttle wide open hoping it would bounce back closed. It stuck wide open. My father's new DeSilva runabout had a deck hand cleat that was cool looking and very pointed toward the driver.

My father hit the beach doing about 45 and slid up the deck and his hand went under the cleat, impailing him as he did a flip over the handle.

My dad got 22 stiches and a penicillin shot. My dad found he was alleregic to penicillin and he laid semiconscience in our house for close to a month.

After my dad recovered, the rule was ALWAYS to parallel the pits when you come in. If you are going too fast, you just over shoot you pits.

I hope Dave and Ken have speedy recoveries. Both are great boat race supporters...

Kenn has only one fracture, and it was not the skeg that cut him, it was the side fin. I have an appointment in Sac today and plan on visiting both Kenn and Dave.

I just now spoke with Dave (it's 0830AM on Monday 24 May here in California) and he sounded very good. They have done the MRI but he did not have the results as yet. He did say that someone came buy and said it was negative but not sure what that meant. I ask how long he expected to be in the hospital and he did not know for sure but anticipated that it would not be for long. Upon release, they plan to drive the motor home back to Texas and as he said "lick his wounds". I was impressed about how good he sounded so hopefully he is on the mend.

                            For Mark Daspit:
Dave said that they have a house sitter so everything is squared away at the house. He appreciated your offer of assistance. Jack
