  • 5a ?

Pardon my ignorance, but who owns the #5A. My Furnal Flyer has an inspection sticker ....1990, 4B (Charlie Gonyea) inspected by 5A.
    Thanks

    Who's 5A

Don't hold me to it but I believe 5A is Bob Howe from Maine. Time frame sounds right.

    Sincerely,
    Don Graham

I bought this from Bob and Jim Howe this last fall. Bob's # now is 2A I believe. I thought that once assigned a #, it was yours as long as you were still racing. Possibly Bob's # was 5A back then and he was also an inspector?

        Numbers

Numbers change for various reasons. 4B was Ben Nichols in ASH as far as that Furnal Flyer is concerned. Charlie Gonyea got 4B after Ben stopped racing. I also think 5A was Bob Howe back during that time frame. Numbers are only held for one year if you don't renew your membership. Bob Howe did leave racing for several years and then returned. Also, a driver can change his number to any available number by request.
