    Carnage at Kitsap

Wild Day at Kitsap. I showed up late, and saw multiple wrecks in CSH. I believe 4 boats were beached and need of repair. .... no serious injuries.

The most bizarre happening was CSR. Our new to us CSR was running very fast only to see it literally self-explode going into turn 2. Looks like the transom and engine went to the bottom together. This was a very good boat design by John.. Luckily, we have another CSR coming. Best of all the driver got away with only a sore knee.

Now we need to figure out what exactly happened here ?????

Interesting side note; the divers found our 302 at the bottom and it was still attached to the transom board, cockpit sides and steering wheel dash.

          Jeeez, I can't believe that!
It came apart into so many pieces!
Unreal...Like it blew off of the trailer, and was hit by a truck!

It didn't blow over or anything?
It was just there one minute and blew apart the next?
Man, it's like he hit a log or something.

How does your driver describe it?

When you get some theory, please let us know.

Yeah, ditto- glad there weren't any injuries or damage to other boats with that much stuff flying around.

Looks to me from the pictures that the boat Had a large hole in the bottom and the boat through hydraulic action(water pressure and air) exploded. I have this seen before. However, never this bad.

                FL csr

Tom- same boat. My theory is dry rot. This is the second csr to come from FL to WA in 5 years. The last one also came apart just like this. I was driving the first one. I didn't lose the motor to the bottom though. That boat also had dry rot.

JMK was driving and the boat was in perfect shape going into turn 2, no blow over or even bouncing. It looked like the cockpit sides, dash and transom literally just came apart from the boat when the turn fin was set.

                            Kitsap

Some more info on Kitsap. Just got home...race went pretty well today, no crashes that I can remember...a lot of boats that ran on Saturday, including my DSH that corkscrewed in Saturday did not run Sunday. Course had decent size straights....but very narrow corners..which may have caused a lot of the accidents....don't know. We sure did have good weather though....very little wind either day....a few dumbasses in ski boats running up the backstretch...but we are used to that.
