  • OMC to sidewinder transom diff?

Anyone know the height difference from sidewinder to OMC? Making a new transom bracket/plate on my boat and would like to set it up to work for both by simply changing bolt holes or something like that.

    thx

I dont know the exact dimensions but the sidewinder is the old hot rod tower and on our old A boat it was about 3/4 to a 1/2 inch lower than the omc.

      Shear Pin Hole Location

Make the location of the shear pin hole the same between the OMC and Sidewinder. Both in height below the bottom and distance from the back edge of the boat. Same kick out to start with also. The same props should work also to start with.

      Good luck.

Thanks for the estimate Mike, I'll start with that. If anyone knows the true value, speak up

Dean, I don't have a sidewinder or that would work great... just figured since I'm putting on a new motor mount I should make it work for the sidewinder also instead of having to do this all again in a year or two. Or if I get a chance to try one, it's possible to do.

          Transom height

          Andrew,
I believe the difference in the two engines is real close to 1".
I used to use a 1" adapter when I ran the OMC "A" on my Hot Rod boats.

Andrew, my old boat was originally set up for a hot rod and I had a 3/4" permanent shim attached to the transom for the OMC, plus about 1/8" after that to make height.
