  • 750 Mod Engine, need help

I have been running a magneto on my 750 Mod Mercury engines. I have been swinging the mag and using the standard 55H type of throttle set up. I now have switch over to a CDI battery ignition system and will lock the mag. I am looking information on how to attach the throttle cable to the carb's. I am shure I can make something but looking to see if there is anything available and maybe something better than my ideas. Thanks and any information will be appreciated......Bob N-96

lee tietze makes them dont know if he has some on the shelf....suggest getting the right parts to run on the bottom carb as a lot safer than a cable up in the air ,,,just in case,,,

            Quincy

            Bob,

We use the old Quincy set up. I am sure someone has a pic of this. It is easy, and you could make one for just about nothing. It is a bracket that bolts on the front cover of the crancase in two spots, near the top and bottom, is around 10" long. It swivels. You run your cable through that and it locks it down, your tiny cable onto the carb and lock it down with the set screw. We have also adapted it to use a stock cable with the adjustment gizmo that rotates front and rear and goes over a T shaped piece. That way you don't need someone holding the throttle open for you to set it up.

Hope this helps. Prolly makes about as much sense as a $3.00 bill !! hehehe. I ain't real good at describing in detail.

Thanks Dave, wish I had a picture of it, you know worth a thousand words. I have been kicking around several ideas, would like to come off the bottom of the engine if possible. I have a Quincy Looper set up but that is for Carter carbs. .....Bob

                linkage........

I've used a Keller throttle shaft actuator and modified a Yamato throttle cable bracket to work to anchor the cable too............was simple and worked great.....

Another great Idea, I like the picking up on the bottom of the engine. Thanks Daren
