If Im running a ASH can i move up to the 25ss just by changing the weight and motor. Apba states that there is no size restrictions on hydros only runabouts. If not what hull do I need.

Don't go there!!!
If you have no wishes to "Live long and prosper" then go ahead and clamp a 25 motor on an A boat. It is not weight that is the determiner here, but overall size. A 25 boat will be longer, wider and needs to be stronger to handle the extra weight and power of the motor.

Pops is correct. On time when I was young, dumb and full of many things not to be mentioned on a Family site, I tried exactly what your are proposing.
One of a few times where my Dad said it/ I was stupid but I thought I knew more that the Old Man. I only really only opened it up on one straightaway (run for the clock). Squeezed the throttle and the whole boat jumped out the water, turned right, then left then . . . Made 3 laps at about 1/3 throttle and was happy to get to the beach. Not enough boat - not even close.Brian 10s

I must be a slow learner.
I put my MK-15 on my Bowson J-Hydro.....once.......
then.....
5 years later thought it would be a good idea to try my 15 Hot Rod on my Furnel Flyer OMC A boat....
In both cases I never got to full throttle before turning around and heading for the beach. It was very obvious very quickly that I was underboated.
Used boats are cheap. There are tons of used boats in good condition available for little more than the cost of the hardware. Get the right boat for the class. It is worth it
