  • 102 power head for winter nats. HELP!!!

We was testing today for the winter nats. and i lost the bottom cylender. The wrist pin bearing came apart and messed up the rod , piston and cylender. DOES ANYONE HAVE A POWER HEAD THEY CAN LOAN OUT FOR THIS RACE PLEASE??? The time is allready taken off from work, dues have ben paid, and motel reserved, we cant back out now. If anyone can help i can pay a little for the wear and tear. THANK YOU.

That is the first time I have ever heard of that failure. Why do you think it played grenade?

My first guess would be a little lean on oil.

Its happened before, Kevin Harrell blew the bearings right out the side of his 102 powerhead at Camden one year, but quite a while ago now.

Consider how long the engine has been in circulation, how many times it has been apart.......if there is carbon build up on the bottom side of the piston, I suspect some broke loose & migrated into the bearing causing needles to not roll but skid. It is only a matter of time then.

If it was lean it would have stuck first.

Thanks Tom. TJ is going to let us use his back-up 102.
