  • Looking for photos

I am new to the board, but would like to ask you guys a question. I am the grandson of Jack Chance. He turned wrenches for Wayne Baldwin for years. Since my grandfathers death, we have lost many of the old racing photos we had. If anyone out there could help me find some we would be most grateful. Note: Before he hooked up with Wayne, he owned and drove his own boats. The # was T-30, he had a driver named Clayton Elmer.
    Thanks

I do know this: Good pics of Wayne and his crew are very rare. I haven't seen too many at all. There is 1 I can think of in a thread started by David L6 not too long ago. Here's the link:

    The Master Oil Racing Team

Cool to see T-73 again. Any way to tell Wayne about this site?? Tell him he would be most welcome.

Thanks for your comments. I will find out what I can about Wayne. It's been a while since I was down in his home town to see him. Since that time he has lost dad and has went after other business ventures. (Or so I've been told). I still have many of the trophies and some pics myself, but still would like to find some more.

Maybe when I scanned it... not when I took it. I was about 13 years old when I took that picture....

I was saving this for a quiz, but I think this is more appropriate.

There was a brilliant article written in Propeller about the 700CC World Championships in 1977 where Tim Butts and Wayne went at it. It was a coin toss as I recall, with Tim coming out as the eventual winner. Wayne had won it in 1976.

Does anyone here have a copy of that issue? I can't remember the month, but is sure would be a great read to scan so all could see.

                    Dayton 700 Worlds....

I remember that article and used to have the program from the Hydroglobe that year. That's the year that the unlimited ran on the same card. Sure would like to see them again also if anyone has them. I also know my father saved the scoring sheets too. But I'm sure they're gone also. Had one of those Baldwin shirts also, they were selling those down in Hinton at the nationals......what was that 76 or 77 ? Nice shirts.

                      1977 UIM OD World championships

The powerboat article is Sept 77. Also in that month was a story I did on Tim Butts and his revolutionary Aerowing. If I can figure out how to send this stuff I will. I tried sending some B& W photos to a musician friend of mine, but they were so big you could only see a portion at a time. I got millions of slides & negatives so it is just a matter of time. Also I will send some shots of my new boat racing room.

I would really like to read that article on Tim Butts, if there is any way possible to scan it in and email or post it here.
