If you don't mind me asking, what does it cost you to put on a local ODA race? Just the expenses, without sponsorship money.

Seriously, I imagine one of the draw backs to having a USTS race, is having manpower close to the venue, to get some of the work done before race day, and if it will help convince y'all to hold a USTS race down here, we can put some boots on the ground to help you get it done.

Mark we worked on having a USTS race in Hartford Conn. for about 5 years and now we are going to have one--and the Dallas boy's are coming (Jim and Sean and Billie) so if someone ever gets it done in Texas we will have to go. Its alot of pre work to put on a race as I'm sure you know.

A Thought

Why not put on all three categories on if you have a race sight already being pursued ? You could pontentially gain a lot of entries, if you use APBA sanction. I know the Pro guys sometimes don't mind running in a normal race, non USTS race. They put them on in Lockhaven PA, they did it at Pleasant Prarie WI last year too. I know they do it at other races. If you promote it right, you might draw some east coast entires to help out a new club...... And some mid-west entires too. You would have to line up the capsule class to ensure enough entires, and have adequate saftey.

Who knows, it might grow from there.

Marine Creek Lake has some good history for Mod and Pro racing. You can find lots of pics on the BRF website for this.

Joe Rome has the desire, interest, and the ability to get a U.S. TITLE SERIES Race in Texas.

What are the chances of some LSORA Races combining with S.P.O.R.T. races?

SoCal runs Tunnel Outboards, Classic Outboards, V-Drives and kneelers at the same race!

As LSORA president I can say that we would eagerly entertain the idea of conducting combined events with either S.P.O.R.T. or USTS. Our primary goal is to promote kneel-down boat racing here in the great state of Texas and are willing to work with any and all parties interested in being a part of achieving that goal.

USTS in Texas???

Four years ago at the Nationals (Depue) there was a meeting. Alexandria, LA was the next race on the USTS schedule. Words at that meeting included "Too far" and "Too hot" and they canceled the race. A few year back from that I went to Alex. only to sit on the beach because one team either didn't want to race or were to young, if more racers would have come it wouldn't have mattered. I don't think USTS will come even further west to Texas! Once again my closest race is 17 hours (Depue) during the season we keep our trailer and truck in Depue, to save on fuel.

I would work my butt off to get a race here. However, I don't think anyone would show up. I love boat racing, but my son Chase will race a Kart first. One hour away and races every weekend!

The Club continues to work on hosting a race in Texas for the 2010 season. We're trying to lock in the race site now. (taking longer than we hoped).

Do you race? If you do, let us know. Even if it's not a kneeler, maybe we can do something jointly.

Well, here's what you can do. First join the Club. Download the membership from the Newsletter and send it in. Get me your phone number and I'll have Dennis Cruse (the President) call you and give you the 411 on what's going on.

You need to go to the NBRA race in Pineville in April. No matter what, go to that race, you will have a total blast. It is one of the best race sites in the country, no joke. Two days of full-on boat racing. The boats, the motors, the people, the sound, the smell of gas and oil. They have a Cajun food cook out on Sat. night.

Roll your pants up and help put boats in the water. Check out the look on guys faces when they come back in after a heat. hear how stoked everyone is about, the boats, the props, how many RPM's they're turning, how fast the GPS says they're going...All day for two days. Volunteer to go out in the pick up boat, watch it out on the water right next to the first turn...Up close and personal man!

Then the racing is over for the day, and the sun starts setting over the lake, and everybodys boat is lined up sitting on the shore waiting for Sunday to do it all over again. A truly beautiful sight.

You will meet some really great people, some of whom will be Legendary...the real heros of boat racing, and you my friend will be rubbing elbows with them.

And if it all feels right to you, I'll bet we could get you a ride in a boat.

Mark is exactly right. We would love to have you as a LSORA member and that would be a great first step to helping out. And believe him when he says the trip to Pineville, LA. for the race in April would be well worth it. Well, only if you like speed, noise, competition, and making new friends that is. One word of caution though, you will likely be recruited to be part of a pit crew if you show up and being around this stuff can be addicting. Just ask anyone on this site. Nothing like being part of the action I say. Mark and myself will both be there as well as other LSORA members and we would like to meet you. Come be part of the fun!

That was a tough decision. We had a lot of attrition (boats and engines) that year at the Nationals. Many did not believe they would have their equipment ready in time. Also, the prior year's event suffered from an on-coming hurricaine that was expected to hit Florida.

But, the distance from the base of the USTS membership is a reality. It makes it easier for people to "punt". This is also a reality check on membership numbers. We cannot support an event well without 75%-80% participtaion by the USTS members.

I hope things workout for the races in Texas and the surrounding areas. That will make holding a big event in the future more likely. I would like to say one day that I raced in Texas.
