  • remote kill switch?

I remember some talk a while back about remote kill switches...

Did anyone come up with one that could be plugged in the standard 2 prong kill switch harnesses most people use? If so, how much or what did you adapt? Seems simple enough for an electronics person to make. Would be great for rookies going out for first rides.

There must be something. I know they use such a system in Monster Trucks that race in stadiums. The officials can shut down a truck when ever they see something they don't like.

The trucks use a RII...Remote ignition interupter.

Good idea, but I think the kids need to learn to control there rig on there own. If they get used to dad turning them off when they get in trouble, then they are going to relie on that everytime...muscle memory starts to kick in.

I would only use this during returning to shore the first few trips out... I've seen many people, kids and adults, hit shore after a first ride... be it excited about the ride and being over zelous or not understanding how fast a boat is actually moving or how long it takes to slow down. Especially useful if you are lending out your own gear to someone curious and new for a test ride... gear feet and props are expensive compare to a $100-$200 gizmo that could be used for years to help make a first ride for someone safer and less costly.

I would set up the unit to work with the onboard switch,The driver would do everything including pulling his or her own switch to stop. The remote would only be used as a last option in an emergency situation. Last year at waterford I saw a J driver error coming back to the pits on testing day,her dad ended up making a trip to the hospital with a messed up arm .

                    Great Idea...

Once you guys have this system perfected, let me know and I will purchase two, money no object. I will personally install them in the 25SSH's of Brewster & Rossman.

                          GREAT Idea

My biggest fear of J kids and AXSH kids is coming into shore. I think just about every one of us has beached a boat at some time or another.

Great idea Andrew. It could not hurt, just in case.
