  • Bill Giles - Another Birthday

Happy Birthday to the Ancient Mariner of South Shore Outboard. Many thanks for all of your years of dedication to the sport and the personal sacrifices that you have made to keep the racing active, not only in Region One, but all across the Country. Most impressive is the streak of 50 consecutive years having a boat on the water and always being the guy to beat. My hero since the JU days, I am honored to be able to call you a friend.

    Rock On Racer Giles

One of the true pioneers of the sport.............racing with 3-B as a kid was always a thrill

And the 'haircut' has stood the test of time!

                              Birthday greetings

                              Greetings Bill,

Best wishes to one of the sports nicest people. Your endless contributions and achievements in the sport are the envy of us all and we all look forward to many more. The Babcock family, living and departed, are and were all very proud to call you friend. Your help in our early days is still burned into our memories. Everyone getting into this sport should be blessed with similar help. My fondest memory in your career was in Winthrop, Maine 1970? Driving Walter Beale's D looper on a DeSilva runabout , it was either the last leg of either the Woolworth Or Wilson Throphy Race. This was a non APBA Free for All 5 lap race. All engines were allowed, there were Super C's , alky hydros, D Stocks too. Bill had a misfiring engine but still picked off a boat a lap and dang would have won if he had a half lap more. We all grin now when we remember it! And as Matt said, the haircut has passed the test of time, Dad loved it! Heck, if I had enough hair now I'd cut it that way too! Many more Bill, and look forward to seeing you this summer.

                              Don't laugh.....it's borrowed!!
