Universal safety Council
The Powerboat Magazine Editors will appreciate any input you all may have towards advancing safety in boat racing.
I'm conscious of the physical (structural due to hull size, weight etc) and financial constraints in universal safety, but have to believe we can find common ground for the respective categories where the benefits can be universally applied.
Thanks!

Safety
Hi Sam,
Although I sent you a private e mail I'll answer here as well.
There is a body of knowledge around the globe on what works and doesn't when it comes to safety. I don't want to duplicate what's there, I do want to capture what's there and consolidate it in one place with a purposeful focus. Thru the empirical knowledge the various categories have gathered over the years, perhaps we can utilize the best practices to enhance our safety. I didn't intend to force Unlimited safety cockpits on any other class. What I hope is that each respective category will determine what is both physically and financially possible and contribute that knowledge to the coordinating group.
UIM is well established to accomplish this goal, so new overlords wont' be necessary. Nor do I think any more out of pocket expenses need come from the racers. It's more a matter of what's the best out there, then can we agree on what's best and those than can afford it, can employ it, and those that don't will make their own decisions. In the Victory tragedy, cost would not have been an issue. The lack of knowing what was best, "may" have been the issue.

One concern is different specifications for different classes. What works in Offshore, Drag and Unlimited with all the horsepower would not work in PRO capsules, SST 45 etc. I completely agree with you on having worldwide safety rules and that there in no excuse of capsule failure in offshore.
Would love to talk to you and Bob Wartinger at the meeting later this month.
