  • Need help identifying a boat

    Hi Guys,
I'm a new member looking for a little help. I have found a 10ft cat with a 30hp yamaha that I'm thinking of buying. But I don't have any experience with smaller boats so I'm not sure what it is worth. Is there any members on here that I could email a pic to that might be able to give me a little info. Thanks Phil.

My email is philmunsterman@gmail.com. Shoot me an email if you think you could help and I'll send you a few pics

Thanks, I'm not at a place today where I can post a pic. I only have my iPhone. So I can only email pics. Phil

I would like to help you but I can't because I don't know anything about pleasure boats. You may have some luck at boatracingfacts.com or at the scream and fly site.

Phil, I dont see registration #s on it so youll need to double check the paperwork end & look for a hull ID# & capacity '411' plate to be sure what its rated for. Then that leaves to question: Has it been run with the 30? Unless someone recognizes it the more you can tell & post pics of it, the better help can be given. It looks like a neat boat. Good Luck

It looks new enough that it should have a HIN on the transom

Thanks for the help so far. I have not seen the boat in person yet just photos. The current owner has only run the boat a few times and said he didn't see any #'s or ratings on the hull. I think I could buy the Boat, motor and trailer for around 1500.00. From what I have seen on several of the forums if it runs out ok that sounds like a fair price. Any thoughts on what I should look for when I check out the boat in person ? I have had many Big boats but nothing this small. Thanks Phil

I did find out that it has 2 built in fuel tanks (one on each side ) Power trim and several 3 blade stainless chopper props.

The motor could be worth anywhere from maybe $600 to $1000 or more depending on year/condition, the props are probably worth a couple hundred each. The trailer has some value too so I think the boats almost free.. All things being operational or close at least. I would be concerned with whatever your State requires to register it on the #s thing. You might have to really search the boat but as new as it looks something should be there. I would also be wary of the floor being solid & the tanks being not corroded or otherwise have a problem. If you could get it for 1500, run it & have it perform ok or better w/o all kinds of $$ & work it would be a find.
