Skipper Smith headed for surgery

Skipper Smith is having surgery Fri afternoon (Dec 11, 2009). It is a major cancer surgery to remove a golf ball size tumor behind his left ear. This is a major thing for anyone especially Skippers age. Keep Skipper in your prayers and thoughts. Vicki is looking after Skipper and will keep us updated. We all know how much Skipper and Vicki mean to our boatracing family and we wish Skipper all the best and a speedy recovery.

Update

Just spoke to Vicki, she wants everyone to know she has received the well wishes and would like to respond to all the emails and calls. Hopefully everyone understands she is pre-occupied. She has asked that I call her tomorrow evening and she will give me an update to post on Skipper's condition.

His spirits are up, right now he is taking his afternoon nap after going through 4 hours of pre-op testing. He is making jokes to the plastic surgeon who is assisting to remove his gobbler while he is in the OR. Leave it to Skipper to make us all smile.
