Thanks Jack, Kim and I went at it pretty good all summer, I just could not get to him at the final race at Big Rapids. I feel pretty good about my first full season of racing, the trip to Haverhill was a highlight.
I will take my orders from YOU next season and maybe we can climb atop that list. There is a little talk about a couple more marathons next season, and if at all possible, I will try to make them.
As always, look forward to seeing you. Go Top'O, Go classics. KampKurz

      Tom,

Thanks for the plug on the website, I've been working on updating things. I'm looking for more photos, and any type of news, from races planning on attending. if the classics would rather run over to Crooked river or somewhere into Burt Lake Sunday, they should speak up so someone can represent them to the club.

That's the plan Todd, looks like Team Casual will be bringing four boats down . Mike, Roger and myself will be running 25ssr / CSR and William with his A rig.

          More Classics

Seeing the 4 classics (only 3 in the video) run at Top O' gave me gooose bumps. Sure would be nice to see a larger showing of them. That 20H Howler could be heard half way up the Indian River.

Back when the classics weren't classics.

Back in the sixties, we local Indian River kids would be down at what is now known as 'the green dock' we would here the B's roaring up the river, and it took quite a while for them to get there, loved that sound.
Even then, I knew what the classes were. Class 36 anyone? Didn't know they were a 'converted 20H', but we sure as heck knew they were the B's and we sure knew why we liked em' the most.
Bring em' on up boys and girls. They will be appreciated.

Don Voison assumed the "race director" responsibilities for hosting the classics at the 2009 Top"O. I have had a number of discussions with him about other possible courses. While we'd love to race Crooked River, we'd have to start somewhere other than Devoe Park. We don't want to miss sharing the start with the Marathon Nationals. Running the 7-8 miles up Burt Lake just to get into the Crooked River would be too long a run in potentially rough water. Part of the attraction of running the Classic Stocks is to be able to use our typical short course boats, old engines, small gas tanks. While nobody elected me to speak for all of the potential Classic drivers out there, I think the current course meets all of our criterion. Also, maintaining separation from the "J runabouts" which is mandatory by APBA rules pinches the start time pretty closely. It also serves to reduce two-way traffic in the Indian River. I vote to leave the course as it is. When we get more competitors we'll consider a possible change to give more spectators an opportunity to re-live the thrill of seeing/hearing classic motors.
