Pencil in July 31 - August 1 as the tentative dates for the 2010 Top O marathon per the announcement at www.marathonnationals.com. Gawd this is going to be a long winter..............:skiing:.
I think at least ten DSR's, maybe more and I know that there were 20CSR's. If i've shorted the DSR count, I know I can count on my DSR friends to chime in. Either way, a lot of runabouts, but not enough that yours wouldn't help.
Gents,
Don't forget the Stock Classics, too. We'll run the shortened 12-mile course, again. This is a perfect race for those of you with short-course equipment. Use standard steering-bar tank. Most of the course is in the Indian River (smooth water and lots of spectators) with only a couple miles into Mullet Lake. Last year it took us about 19 minutes. You can even get a single-event racing license because Stock Classic doesn't have a "national championship". Any motor more than 25 years old(pre-1984) with classes competing by cubic inch displacement. No weight restrictions, engine height limits. Only engine inspection requirement is that the motor must be in it's "factory stock configuration". Drivers must wear all safety equipment and boat must pass APBA inspection criterion such as kills switch and deadman throttle Call me for more info.

They did this year. Ran over to the Breakers and back both days. I do know that it was a shame that more did not participate. Only had four takers. Another had showed to run but was having engine problems while testing and did not run. Maybe there will be more in 2010. At any rate, it's hoot. You realy don't want to miss the Top O. Jack
I can bring up a 20-H conversion rig for you to run. Since it is just exhibition for the classics, that wouldn't technically break your retirement from racing would it?
I may show up just to see you run Roger. I can't believe you've missed the greatest boatrace anywhere all these years. Michael must not be leading you properly.
I've been thinking about bringing my boat up to the midwest this summer and have someone drive it while I bask on the beach. The whole summer in Texas is a bore besides being toooooo hot. I'll start looking at a potential plan as the schedules start taking shape. Jack
Mark, you are right about the ice cream. It and boat racing just seem to go together. No better place to prove this concept than Indian River. Congrats on your point finish in C marathon. I expect number 1 next year. Will accept nothing less. I may have to limit your beverage allowance or ice cream allocation. Jack
Or you can also go to the Top O' web site and see the 2009 results and stats for all the classes at http://tomorc.com/Welcome.html
---- Chris Hageral does a nice job keeping this site up. I encourage any marathon racers to join the site so we can all keep in touch with one another.
