I didn't think Fred ran any of the smaller classes. Maybe my memory is messed up, but I do know that is not the boat that ran DSR. Way too small.

My guess is Dayton 1985 by the looks of all the 20cu hot rods...
Dayton 1981, Merc Poppers were still the motor of choice.Comment

The BSR pix might be '85. Certainly pre-kevlar...which was about '88-'89.
But the other pix...25ssR's...Dewald has a short tower. Don't think any short towers were around in '85.
Maybe these pix are from the Record Runs Race in Spring?

Back in the 80's a runabout driving style arose where guys would basically stand in the cockpit...thus their knee (usually the right one) would get up above the cockpit side.
Some thought this was unsafe...so a rule was passed that you had to keep at least one knee below the cockpit side.

Fred Miller's Past
