  • 2010 NBRA Nationals question

I have a question for all non NBRA drivers. With the APBA nationals scheduled in California this year. If the NBRA nationals were scheduled somewhere in Illinois, at a very nice site with great water, and with a good amount of prize and tow $$$$$ to go with it, would anyone besides the normal NBRA drivers attend. I have an idea and just want to see if it will be worth pursuing.

Keith------I was thinking the same thing. I think Centralia would be a perfect deal for nbra nationals. I think we should get some guys who don't want to make the California trip.

Keith, I will plan to be there. Unless the date conflicts with Top O'.

        Question;

How do you handle the differences in tech specs (weight/height/etc) for "non NBRA drivers"?............Have not looked at'a NBRA Tech Manual so just wonder'n..........?
Does the host rule's/specs prevail if a APBA/AOF racer wants to compete?

Has there been any discussion of a standardized (is that a real word)....... Tech manual for "combined card" races?......Would/could it be possible for the Big Three (NBRA/AOF/APBA) to talk about it?

Anyone have a NBRA Tech link handy to post?

Thanks, 100N....... Steve French AOF Tech VP candidate 2010-2011

            Hasn't been an issue

This year I ran about 50/50 APBA and NBRA and nothing was ever a problem with my legal "APBA" boats or engines. I just go run and have fun and hang out like at any other races.

              NBRA Nationals

All NBRA rules and specs will apply. We pretty much have a place for any APBA racer to race their equipment.

                NBRA Nationals

If this were to happen it would not be a combined card event. You would have to become a NBRA member to race. The reason for my post is to find out if any APBA drivers would be interested in coming. I have a great site and sponsors for the event if I can generate enough interest we will probably do it. If not then I will probably leave it alone.

                  IOA support

                  Keith,

I'm pretty sure that you would see several of the IOA guys make it over that way. I know that dates are limited, but staying away from the Michigan marathon would make a differnce for me personally. If you send me a private note or give me a call with your ideas, I will present them in a few weeks at the IOA fall meeting and give you feedback.

                  Thanks

I would like to go and play with NBRA, as long as the date did not conflict with Top'O',
I am sorry to have missed Shelbyville.

                      Do It

                      Keith,

In talking with several Mod guys, I think you might see a few more than the normal crew. Not sure on the stock contingent.

Personally, I LOVE Shelbyville for the pit space, and you could run any size course you wanted to. Milling at one end helps keep the course smoother, just all the room is nice.

Centrallia is also perfect water. My favorite water to be honest. After finally winning a title there, I love the place ! Pits are a little small, but very, very managable. That would be the only reason I would pick Shelbyville for a larger race.

If you have a new spot, I am all ears, and most likley will be there. I love racing with you guys. The fun factor meter tops out every time. Where else can I drive around 4 partying women on a golf cart and not go to jail !

                        Here's my thoughts

What I am thinking is scheduling the 2010 NBRA Long Course Nationals for the weekend of August 7,8,9 2010 in Lake Shelbyvill, IL. We will have at least $4,500 and all of the usual stuff that we normally have in Shelbyville. If I can generate enough interest I will present a bid at the 2010 national meeting. We are having a club meeting this weekend to discuss.

Yes we had discussed doing NBRA races in 2010. However tell me were our OMC "A" class equipment fits into your class breakdown. Your Tech. rules only show Yamatos in your "A" class category.

                            Omc A

                            Tom,

I believe the OMC class is considered O Hydro/Runabout. Same as the APBA A Stock class. I might be wrong, but that is my understanding. If enough come they would be raced I would think.

Give me a shout sometime, i will find out the answer as i have had several phone calls asking questions about the NBRA rules and class structure etc. I can and will copy the Tech Manual for anyone. Basically all engine specs are the same as APBA. The class structure is a little different, as they combine some classes that are the same speed ranges. Works out pretty good I feel. Makes for a medium to short day of racing with plenty of test time each day. That I LOVE, testing !! When was the last time you could test in the A.M. on Saturday at the Nat's.

Keith, Give me a call tonight.

                              A stock classes

The A stock classes are not a legal class in NBRA. We have in the past run them as a special event and I would imagine that that that could be done again. If we put this race on we are trying to get as many trailers and boats to the race as possible. It is a beautiful site and great water and I'm sure you all will have a great time.

Dave pm me your # to call.
