  • AOF!!! Pineville, LA!!! ...Game On.

What's up everyone? This weekend will hopefully be a stepping stone to help get AOF headed back into the right direction. Everyone is pretty excited at the lake about the race. The turn out is more than likely going to be pretty low... But, things must start small before they can grow. Or in this case... re-start. Coming from a mostly NBRA racing background. I am super excited to see AOF trying to make a comeback. We are here to race. We have raced numerous AOF, NBRA, and APBA races. All we want to do is race. If this is opening a new door to have more races... then we are really hoping that our participation this weekend will help the growth. Me and my family try to stay out of the politics as much as possible. Politics are the entire reason that boat racing in certain areas began to struggle. (The economy doesn't help too much either... But you understand where I am going with this) Although our hopes of each organization/federation coming together to work for the better of boat racing will only go so far, I do hope that everyone who is charge within each racing group will do EVERYthing in their power to make things work between each other. What ever "give and take" that needs to take place. Try it out. I know I will get a reply that things have been tried and have failed or whatever... But since when have boat racers given up? When you come out of the first turn and can see first place right in front of you... do you stop trying to catch them and just let them walk away and take the victory? Or do you push yourself AND you're rig to be the one who crosses the line before them? We all need to work together to make a win not for any of the organizations but for the sport of boat racing. I encourage you to make any race that is possible for you to make. We have had a lot of projects that has limited our racing over the past few years. But if there is a race anywhere around within our affordable driving distance... whether it is an NBRA event, a AOF event, or an APBA event. We will be there. We are going to do out part to help the sport the best way we can. We race and that is it. I do not care what memberships I own... I am ONLY a boat racer.

Anyways, back on subject for the race this weekend. I am going to try and get on and leave as much info about results and such as I can. Hope to see some more of you guys this weekend. Lets have fun!!! Im stoked for this.

P.S. I am soo sorry for the rant. Today we had a LOT of sitting and talking with racers about racing in general. It kind of lit a fire in me to speak out about how I feel about racing. Hopefully it may inspire some people to try new paths and lets see where we can take racing. So with that being said. Don't bash me too hard... if you dont agree with anything i said above or if I am speaking above my knowledge. But I am young and dumb... and sadly, I am pretty proud of it. Lol. Have a good day/night guys and gals.

Well guys, today we were only able to get 4 heats of racing in before the most unexpected of accidents happened. Two planes that were a part of a local plane club who was having an air show hit each other in mid air between the lake and the river. Both planes went down. Tony and Carl Staron, Will and Josh Hawkins, and one other guys whos name is slipping away from me at the time, rushed in the turn boats to the site of the accident. They beat the paramedics to the site to help the best way they could. Each plane carried 2 people. There were 4 people total. Sadly only 2 survived. Both people in one of the planes died on impact. The other two had injuries, but will be ok. After the accident. Everyone at the lake decided to call it a day and to continue tomorrow. We will finish off today's schedule tomorrow before moving on to tomorrow's actual schedule. Keep the family's of the deceased in youre prayers. As far as results go... 102 Stock Hydro is (unofficial) 1rst: John Mathews (ME!) 2nd: Dan Parker... and im not sure after that. SEH 1rst: Shane Hebert. Its been a very gloomy day since the accident, so I apologize for not having more info. After seeing it happen (I was returning to the pits from the last heat of SEH, and was watching the two planes as I made my circle aroudn the back corner to return to the pits. I saw it all... *sad face*... I need to try and sleep it off so I can race tomorrow) I would like to send out the up most respect to Tony, Carl,(guy whos name ive forgotten), Will, and Josh. They put their own lives in the back of their mind and did everything they could do to help the guys. But sometimes its not enough. But much respect to each of you guys.

Our prayers are with the families who lost loved ones and with the boat racers who witnessed such a terrible crash. As a first responder and EMT my hat is off to all of those who rushed to be of assistance. -- Teresa

We called off racing today after having a meeting due to terrible weather conditions... Plus the accident yesterday kind of let the wind out of this weekends sail. Thanks to everyone who came and hung out.

What a weekend. I am still in shock of the accident. I looked at www.thetowntalk.com and checked out the update and the pictures. Have you heard anything else on the lady that survived? The paper said she was seriously injured. I hope everyone made it back home safely and thanks again to the courageous boat racers who risked their lives trying to save others. You were heros this weekend. Hey Tony, Tab said that your boat goes fast. He said you were further than the green boats and you got to the land before they did. We have some great boat racers! Please keep all involved in this accident in your prayers.

Sorry to hear about the plane crash tragedy. It has affected me just knowing the people who were among the first responders ( the Hawkins' ). I can't inagine what it must have been like to be there.
